I was following the bitcoin threads and saw that some of you here know what you're talking about when it comes to investing.

My girlfriend has just inherited €25k (approx $33.6K) and is wondering what to do with it. She's worried that both the Euro and Italy are fucked so she doesn't want to keep it in an Italian bank. She suggested putting it into a Sterling account and although I'm patriotic I wouldn't advise her to do that, although the £ is doing ok at the moment (£1 = $1.6).

I was thinking that she should invest it into something that generates an income.

She would hit me very hard if I told her to buy-up amber dolls.

Any suggestions?

Permanent Portfolio Performance and Historical Returns

Putting it in a savings account at the moment you're more or less throwing away money -- interest rates are too low. You can setup the above with 4 funds.

Inb4 lukep tells you to put all of it into BTC.

$33,600 > Join Myfreecams > Buy HD webcam > $33,550 > Buy Misc toys > $33,350 > Buy extra MFC features > $33,050 (If plastic surgery or boob job is needed subtract more, assuming since WF BF, she's a 10/10 model)

....

Next month she will have: ~$67,200

...

Other options:

Buy long term stocks, tell her to keep investing her own $$ into them (That compound growth HNNGGG). Aside from personal business ventures, this is the way I'd go.

CD's/Savings/etc suck. CD's used to be great, but not so much the case today..

If you can't risking losing it, don't invest in btc. It might completely collapse all of a sudden, or might touch $1k in couple of months. Who knows.. I'd ask dmnepc what to do

I heard rusvik is selling real estate in thailand. Perhaps give him all your money to invest away. You can't lose http://www.scandinaviansalescenter.com/en/

Bitcoins. I made $40 by accident with bitcoin, imagine what would happen if you did it with PURPOSE?

jon's arbi fund:
Before laying it out for ya... AVOID THE STOCK MARKET. Please, do yourself a favor and don't waste it on stocks like the other idiots. The stock market is a game that you are not equipped to play and win on. You may win one or two plays here and there, but overall, longterm, you could take that same cash and control its destiny to the top if you're up for it. With the market, you're just putting it in, and pressing play. Its foolish. -- However, if you are a well connected pro trader, then that's a different story. If you're a congressman or senator, then you should def play, as I'm sure you have more info than all of us anyway. If you are Goldman Sachs or HSBC then you are the market and the monies, so you're just trolling me.

1- I'd invest all of it, immediately, into one of my arbitrage funds. It would be locked up for two years, but your ROI would be disgusting and after your cap gains, you'd be doubled up, or nearly so, depending on which arb fund you chose.

When people come across money, the instinct should not be "I need to invest this right now". That is the basis of poor decisions. The only time that logic is okay is when you already have a money generating system like mcgrunin or shockergod.

It's perfectly okay if your money sits for 4-6 months while evaluating the proper investment(s). It's also not smart to forget about it and just leave it in a non-interest generating account.

I wouldn't recommend a large percentage in bit coin based on it's volatility and 100% speculative nature.
If you are looking for an income generating investment, real estate is your best bet. Buy a rental property or similar.

I'm not familiar with the English real estate trends and I don't know what kind of opportunities you have. In the US, you have tax deeds, foreclosures, fix-and-flips, home rentals, condo/apt rentals, vacation rentals, etc.

I would talk to people locally about investing. I get a lot of my investment advice from a friend that runs a hedge fund.

$33.6k won't buy you a great amount in the Uk - maybe a shed oop north or something. Wez in Italy if I recall correctly. Would could you get for that there?

Coke and hookers every time though really isn't it. For you both I mean.

Haha..I was wondering how much a good Cam girl on there makes. Serious question.

Dividend paying stocks. Keep rolling the interest and dividend payments and let compounding interest do its thing.

If she invests any of the money into an existing or new business, have fun in court if the relationship doesn't work out.
