You Make $100K/Year. You Pay $30,000 In Taxes PER YEAR. Where does that money go?

I live in California and have been on the wrong side of the state franchise tax board. Those fuckers are more vicious than the IRS. It's only a matter of time before they drive all significant businesses out of the state. Even the leftist film industry is almost nonexistent in Los Angeles right now(more so because of the film incentives in Louisiana and Georgia).

As for your federal tax dollars. Our government knows that statist votes and loyalty can be bought through a welfare state and an even larger bloated bureaucracy to administer it. Throw in some farm subsidies, corporate welfare, and large defense contracts to appease the other side of the aisle and you can spend your days arguing irrelevant talking points while doing nothing productive. Almost forgot that you need to guarantee ridiculously over priced student loans to appease the academic intellectuals who in turn defend the state.

Even the levying of income taxes on the productive side of society isn't enough to keep up with the theft now. They have been forced to steal at least 3% of your income and idle savings annually through currency debasement. You have to love fiat money.

The saddest part is that we could take care of the sick an infirm easily without a massive drain on society. A simple national VAT could cover all essential services and military(non-aggressive of course) if they were to be run like a private company. The problem is that too many meal tickets would need to be punched to make that happen.

It's cute that you put the sheep notice up when, in reality, only sheep pay those taxes. Tax avoidance schemes are part of the game. Just not for you.

Simple: your taxes go to pay the salaries of the people who decide you have to pay taxes. A politician's entire job consists of getting paid by telling people they have to pay him.

It's funny how you mentioned that tax dollars go to fixing potholes. There's a street right by my house that's had an unbearable number of potholes to the point where you basically need a lifted Humvee to drive down it without scraping your car. It's also been like that for the past TEN YEARS.

If you didn't know, the gov actually accounts for people cheating on their taxes when determining the tax rates, almost as if they're encouraging you to do it.

Fixing potholes every once in a while is a marketing ploy to higher the percieved value of the government. People tend to believe the outrageous fees they're paying the government are justified if everything is fine in their neck of the woods. Wonder why the projects don't get any money? Because the people living there don't pay no taxes. They just need to have a minimum standard of living to prevent "crime" from spilling into richer neighbourhoods making the real money cows angry ...

Think most of it goes towards servicing debt as opposed to actual services or infrastructure..

On a serious note though, over here using a ltd company (equivalent LLC?) you can pull out 10 grand income tax free and then about the same capital gains - not to mention other bits - and that's before expenses, various 'relief' benefits or other tax-efficient reinvestment strategies.. So you and your spouse can take home something like 50-60 grand combined out of the company without getting taxed a penny on an individual level (apart from VAT/sales tax on your expenditure obviously..)

Is there nothing like that over there? I feel bad for you guys :(

I hope so much trolling in this thread?

The original poster says we're not at war... baby, we been at war over a decade.

People don't just go out and freedom themselves. It takes infrastructure and massive weapons all around the world.

Plus, we have welfare to think of. The military complex can't sell everything they make unless we buy it, so there's that.

it costs a ton of money to kill brown babies in the desert. With that said you need a more aggressive tax planning strategy. You are paying way to much in tax (for your income).

It goes to public employees, the modern day equivalent of religious clergy in the past.

Replace Christendom with the Holy Welfare State and you have your answer.

Think about it. The church did many of the things the welfare state claims to do. They had poor hourses, had libraries, helped single moms, took care of the old, provided basic healthcare later on.

But on top of that they had thousands of leeches using intimidation and brainwashing to make the poor and middle class hand over money for 'salvation'.

A certain part of the population are smart enough to get paid, but too cowardly to fight in the real world, hence they join the Holy Welfare State or religious clergy.

The church was only 10% of your earnings bro

You're paying it so fat, ugly black chicks can pump out a bunch of babies, then complain really loud that somebody needs to take care of their kids, because they can't. Now quit complaining, and do your part. Those EBT cards aren't free, you know.

The only way I don't get pissed off about taxes is that I tell myself that all my tax monies are going to buying my best friend, who is a pilot for the marines, the best possible gear to keep his ass safe.

Like all of those unarmored Humvees that they had in Iraq for the war...

We are not at war...

Where have you been for the last 12 years? While you might not be in an official "war" as declared by congress, you've been at war since 9/11 and you've been involved in some sort of warfare on and off (more on than off) for the last century. A recent study by Harvard reckons $4-$6 trillion will have been spent on Iraq and Afghanistan when it's all over. The $200 billion mentioned in that pie chart above is a laughable figure.

And you wonder where your money is going? It's being spent half way around the world bombing the crap out of people and then paying them to "rebuild".

Or how about the "war on drugs"? There's another trillion dollars down the crapper.
