2. Mexico, Central America or Ecuador/Colombia
Cheaper to fly to from the US.. easier visa situation too especially in countries like Mexico
A little less safe? more guns, violent crime, etc when compared with SE Asia

I’ve lived in different parts of Mexico for almost 3 years now, never seen any kind of violent crime. Go where the tourist spots are, there are more amenities, better internet, more shopping/entertainment options, and you won’t run into anywhere near as much violent crime as some border towns. Ignore the media, the US wants all tourist dollars to stay in the US so they make everywhere else appear scary.

On the other hand, I’ve had three friends living and working in Thailand who have had their places shot up and roommates murdered, and not all three of my friends lived the same experience. Even with that in mind, Thailand is my next stop after I’ve milked Mexico for everything I need from it.

This thread reminds me of why we do what we do for a living.

FYI here's the breakdown for China:

Pros
- Warm hearted people

Cons

- Pollution (unless you're in a vacation city, which then makes your life more inconvenient)
- Sharply rising cost of living
- Visas damn near impossible to get
- Internet sucks and you have to use a VPN for errthing
- Very few English speakers

Id just find steady internet.

it being slow or expensive is not really a problem, its when you have unreliable internet that becomes a huge fucking pain

No USA? Wth OP.
what-the-fuck-did-you-say.jpg

what could possibly be better than living the all-american lifestyle?

You forgot:

Women are ugly, especially without eye makeup
Food is low quality or even fake (they have fake eggs for fuck sake)
They don't eat with their mouths closed

Don't try and think about one location to solve your problems.

The beauty of this lifestyle is that you can move like the wind to places that have the most happening, as they happen. If you are interested in simple quality of life factors, then to each their own. If you are looking to make shit happen, move forward, and put yourself in a position to capitalize on changes then always be prepared to leave and go to another place.

Being able to be around others who are doing big things will make you do big things. That location tends to change, even with the seasons.

I've been doing this for years now, and the modern location independent community moves like the tides from place to place, with certain locations always being hubs for that crowd.

Berlin
Bangkok
Chiang Mai - for lifestyle hippies and bootstrappers
Saigon
Singapore - for those looking for funding
Medellin - lifestyle people
Buenos Aires - for those late to the party who just finished 4HWW
Santiago - Simon black crowd and/or start up Chile crowd
Philippines - Whoremongers and/or those building outsourcing teams
Shenzhen - manufacturers
Tokyo - For those who have been in the game for far too long, and are looking for quality of life

Thanks for the advice. Mexico is definitely attractive to me. I'm checking out Playa Del Carmen in less than a month actually.

I'll have to visit the Pacific side of Mexico next.

Playa del Carmen is awesome. And Mexico is very cheap. Just don't get involved in drugs, pick fights with taxis, or flash your cash and you should never have a problem.

I've been in Playa for over a year, Puerto Vallarta before that, some time in Cabo too.

Vallarta is more Canadian/US while Playa is very international. More Catholic in Vallarta, hotter women in Playa. Costco and Bubba Gump in Vallarta when you need your 'Merican fix.

Vallarta had lowest cost of living, Playa highest, but still paying significantly less for a bigger/nicer/2 block to the beach place than I was paying for in Oregon.

The beaches are better in Playa. Cancun is a great getaway when you want big city, Tulum is great when you want smaller. Or even Akumal if you just want to relax and not do shit.

I'm a cave diver, so Playa is the obvious choice for me (considered by many to be the best cave diving in the world).

If you have questions, feel free to PM me.

From my experience, this:
Just don't get involved in drugs at the dealer level and don't be stupid. Worst case scenario in most cases if you're just buying for personal consumption is you'll pay triple. Once to buy, once to pay the bribe to the cop, once more to get some from somebody else so you can get your fix for the night.

don't...pick fights with taxis unless you know you're right. I have the rate sheet for Playa, if they try to dick me I tell them to call the cops and they give up. This also works well if you haven't just been dropped somewhere shitty. Discuss the price before you take off and you'll be fine. At least in Vallarta and Playa.

don't...flash your cash well yeah, I try to avoid this everywhere. But I do all of my transactions via cash since my girl had her debit card swiped the day we arrived in Vallarta. So I'm usually wandering around with a couple hundred in this crazy monopoly money they use down here.

Didn't quote your whole post just so people wouldn't have to scroll down a ton. I read it all though; very helpful. Ty for the info.

Puerto Vallarta was my Pacific Coast option, or the smaller nearby town of Sayulita which is supposed to be a nicely kept secret.

Other options for me would be one of the cities on the Baja California penninsula but i assume cost of living would be higher, internet would be slower, etc. Maybe I'm wrong.

I'll definitely send a PM if I have specific questions when I get back from Playa, or in the future if I'm ready to make the move down there.

I found the fake egg video. WTF? Also in the video: fake grapes and fake pig intestines!

I would probably go to South America considering its easiest to learn Spanish and I'm brown. So if I learn Spanish well I'd fit in quite decently. I'd eventually want to learn Portugese too and travel through Brazil. Latinas are hot as hell and they seem to really like me so that's a plus.

SEA Asia is another part of the world I wanna explore. I've been to Bangkok before and its a cool city. Bali as well, Bali is one of the most beautiful places I"ve had the privilege to visit. I also ate some absolutely amazing fish satays there that where ridiculously amazing.

At some point I want to learn Russian and check out Russia as well as Eastern Europe. The Trans-Siberian Railways is something that I want to take a journey on. However, I've heard a lot about the risk of racism as well as general violence there so I"d only do it after learning to defend myself(probably through muay thai or boxing). Eastern European girls are hot too, my Russian buddy showed me pics of his ex and she was so hot she could have appeared on the cover of Swimsuit Illustrated.

I'm going to the Dominican Republic for a couple weeks later this month... should be an interesting experience as I'm also going to visit the capital Santo Domingo.
