I went on a 6 week road trip through the states this summer. It was great, I'd suggest anyone take the chance and visit the place if you haven't yet![]()
Yeah, I will do sometime... some parts look fuckin beautiful. But there's just so many other places I want to see first, America is way down near the bottom of the list. After seeing more of Asia, Eastern Europe, South America, Africa and Australasia I might get around to visiting North America.

Oh really? Where in Uganda?Don't get me wrong I really think your a nice guy and all....BUT...you take a jab at the U.S. in every post that you can get a chance. If it's not that the US is full of gun totin hillbillys ready to kill your first born it's yea I do plan to visit the states sometime...but not untill I have traveled the rest of the globe first..the states are last on my list.
Why even respond with that statement. Who really gives a shit if the US is last on your list. I would rather read a post of what country is first on your list..who gives a fuck who is last. Uganda is last on my list....is that interesting??

The Pacific Nortwest region is beautiful! I highly recommend it.
Oregon, Washington (western half anyhow), northern portion of Idaho.
Also, the Black Hills of South Dakota, particularly during the Sturgis rally
Hawaii, Northern California, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania. There are actually a lot of really cool places here in the states.
If you're ever in the Omaha, Nebraska area hit me up.
The U.S. has it's faults; sure. It's not a perfect country - I know.
One thing I learned (traveling) is that people are the same everywhere, and every place has it's good people and it's bad people. Every place has it's faults and it's positives.
I've lived in a few U.S. states, and I currently live in New Orleans (where I mostly grew up) and one thing I've seen about the U.S. is that it is in deed very diverse. There's a great deal to see and experience in this country and I always like to keep my eyes and ears open and learn something new.
Everyone has their preferences however. Personally I love the progressiveness and the cleanliness of the part of Minnesota where I lived for the past two years; here in New Orleans I don't see either of those two qualities.
However I enjoy the food, music, and architecture of this area. And this weekend we're driving to Florida to go to the beach. I couldn't do that in Minnesota obviously - I'd be bundled up right now.
As a wise hippie once said, "wherever you are, there you are." There's something to enjoy about each place - you just have to find it.

No, not really. But if you posted that you found a cheap flight deal to Uganda on a forum where the majority of the members where Ugandan, and justified why Uganda was last on your list it might be more interesting. Uganda seems like a very interesting country to me, I'd love to go there someday. It would be interesting to know why it is bottom of your list - unless you were just being flippant.
I think you might be exaggerating slightly, but it is obvious that my opinion of the US as a nation isn't particularly high. As with opinions of people, it is based on my perception of actions and will undoubtedly change over time. You've got to realise the opinion most of world has of the states isn't particularly high at the moment.
If I'm honest though, the reason I might have a go at the US is the same reason lots of people here take the piss out of marketing noobs, mentally disabled kids, whatever... it's just so fuckin easy.
Again, being brutally honest, I blame in part American voters for my sister being sent to Iraq and Afghanistan, I hold those who choose not to vote even more responsible - both here and in the US. I do fully accept that the UK is just as fucked up, corrupt and money-obsessed, but the image the media feeds us is that America is bigger and better at everything. I'm guilty of being (mis)led by the media, as we all are to some extent.
Maybe it's a subconscious thing? We can't stop the game of follow-my-leader so we shift blame to those who elect the self-styled world leaders...
I want to see as much of the world as I can and experience the rich diversity of nature and human culture. Other than convenience I don't see much reason to go for the countries that are most like my own first. Maybe that's where I'm wrong though.. because we share a language and other aspects of our cultures the subtleties are often overlooked. I mean no offence, and I generally like Americans. I also like the few Burmese I've met.
First on my list... Russia, next year. (Overland trip UK-SE Asia)
Australasia.... sorry mate, I originally wrote Australia but didn't want to offend any Kiwis by missing them out, was just being lazy.
Peace.
