A ~= A
So, I needed a fresh linux box to run some tests. I go to Digital Ocean, select how much memory I want, what datacenter, and what linux version. One minute later I can ssh in, no password needed, as DO is nice enough to add my ssh key to all new machines by default.

I scp my shell script to the machine, it installs everything needed quickly (fast net and fast SSD), and I go about my business. 30 minutes later, I'm done, and destroy the machine.

Total cost? 1 cent. This is how buying computation should work.

Welcome to 6 months ago! One of the coolest hosting control panels I've ever seen.

On topic: Yeah they rock.. Had a problem with them shutting down my server for some reason (too much bandwith?), fixed in a few minutes.

Wait.... so this would cost me $960/mo?

[root@solr ~]# cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep processor | wc -l
24

[root@solr ~]# free -g
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 188 124 63 0 0 90
-/+ buffers/cache: 34 154
Swap: 3 0 3

[root@solr ~]# df -h /dev/sda3
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda3 741G 163G 542G 24% /

You guys are funny.

^ you can just do grep -c, no need for wc -l.

The value isn't in the largest plans, I have dedis for stuff that needs that, but a lot of apps work great on a $10 or $20 / mo machine.
