Potato Salad Doing Well on Kickstarter

Let's see if I understand this. Did people give $34k to this guy as a joke lol?

Wonder what's the thought process of some of those idiots that gave him the money "Haha how funny would it be to give some guy money as a joke!!!!"

It was only yesterday it was at like $8K.

The end is close.
You work hard for years, refine your skills to excellence in "what really matters", develop for 8 months to craft a superb piece of software......then a guy decides he needs $10 to make a salad and asks money for "this project" and a bunch of idiots give him $15K.
I resign from this world.

The difference is marketing.

Is he really going to have people over to be there while he is making the salad? Like 99 people have paid for that. And he is going to have to ship out 400+ "bites" of the salad.

The best part:

"I will say your name out loud while making the potato salad."

lul

Fuck the potato salad, for $30k I'll make you hot dogs. I'll even toast the buns, and everything.

Man it sucks watching the movie Idiocracy come to life...

This is what happens on a long weekend when no one is manning the interwebz.

Kickstarter should cancel this and return all the money. This will start a pattern and people will do more of this.

Right. Just like how everyone was so successful with their version of the million dollar home page after the original.

Why? Because he's getting $30K to make potato salad? He isn't scamming anyone. He is telling the donors exactly what they are going to be receiving. Nobody is forcing these people to give money. They are just dumbasses. Kickstarter shouldn't start trying to censor projects just because they think they are stupid.

I'd pay 10 bucks to go to an Internet filmed potato salad party. Imagine the hipster chicks.

Still sounds more fun than anything in Vancouver.

Or it'll get a shitton of free exposure to demos that aren't already into crowdfunding because 100x more people will hear about some cool potato salad prank and the resulting 500k youtube hits video from a 500-person kickstart prank party than a magnetic hipster extension cord. Either one.

I've been amazed by the crowdfunding concept ever since it appeared in kickstarter form. In this potato salad example, people are going beyond their usual investor mentality and doing this as a joke. It is also a step closer to circumventing government bureaucracy and charities.
