Paypal and Bitcion

Hate to say it, but I think apple just killed bitcoin. Apples new "wallet" maybe the murder weapon.

Was about to just mention this. Pretty sure that is why the price is down over the past week or so.

I'm bearish on the price of bitcoin right now. Seems to be less and less interest each day and more and more companies working on other mobile payment systems.

A big part of bitcoin is the fact it cannot be reversed, so I do not imagine it will be any more protected - especially when bitcoin has been transferred out of their control.

PayPal offers extensive buyer protection. Transactions CAN be reversed, which is the point jacky8 was making. There's absolutely no buyer protection with bitcoin, which is why many many people will never use it in its native format.

Essentially they're becoming a bitcoin escrow service.

I imagine Gold, Silver, and BTC will continue to slide during that time like they all have been doing. 12 months is not enough time for your prediction IMO.

Have you been watching how much hoopla the Alibaba IPO is getting or how much home building and new home sales are picking up? The more this kind of stuff happens, the more people divest out of SHTF investments.

You can't really lump BTC in with gold, silver, and other "SHTF" investments though. You can't pay any bill or buy anything with gold / silver, but you can with BTC. Same as nobody gets paid in gold / silver, but lots of people get paid in BTC, myself included. Then again, if these payroll services manage to take off, the demand for BTC is going to sky rocket, substantially raising the price.

Merchant adoption is already pretty decent, and only getting stronger. When people are able to pay for 60% of their living expenses in BTC, you can expect the demand to be paid in BTC to be quite high. This way, only a portion of their income ever hits their bank account, which is a good thing for obvious reasons. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure most people would prefer to buy their kids new clothes, versus paying taxes to bomb brown people, and for the TSA to feel them up.

Of course it's all speculation, but there has been plenty of talk hypothesizing that Apple Pay could actually be good (if it somehow manages to catch on where Google Wallet has failed) for bitcoin, because it opens the door for more people to pay with their phone, something most are resisting right now. There are a lot of steps in between, before BTC could ever become mainstream, but it's logical that in the not-so-distant future this could help BTC gain acceptance.

Perhaps. That's a pretty logical idea. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Btw I'm long on bitcoin and will win no matter what happens.
