He is trying to connect a lot of dots that can't be connected. There were many groups involved in the Libyan coup, they often had competing interests. He cannot show that AQAP or AQ in Iraq was involved in the coup in a meaningful capacity, and that is what his argument is based on.

I would recommend watching this instead:

Yeah, I have family in Calgary, plus lots of people on FB from there. People actually seem quite scared of ISIS and muslims, and I just don't really get it. You see messages like, "yeah, if you go into a store owned by muslims, everyone goes quiet. it's really freaky, so be vigilant out there everyone!"

What do these people think are going to happen? Cars are going to start exploding in downtown Calgary, or something? While shopping at Eaton's Center, they're going to run into a suicide bomber yelling "Allah Ahkbar!" before he blows himself up? All I can do is tip my hat to the media for doing their job so effectively, and instilling the fear that they have.

Other than that, this irrational fear doesn't make sense to me.

I agree. Harper needs to justify sending 600 soldiers and a few choppers & airplanes out there, so the fear mongering needs to go on.

Have you forgotten about the Boston Marathon bombings? London underground and bus bombings? How about the Madrid train bombings? Attempted bombing in Times Square? Fort Hood shootings? Shall I go on?

With Canadian soldiers having fought in the Middle East, you would be foolish to think that nothing like this could ever happen in Canada. I'm not saying that you should live in fear of such things, you've probably got a better chance at winning the 6/49 than being killed by a terrorist, but don't discount it as being impossible.

I could see something like this happening in .ca and then immediately afterwards, a bunch of apologies and free Tim Hortons.

I try to ignore conspiracy theories. There will be some bigwigs pulling some strings but its just gonna bring you down by getting too involved in it all.

Most fascinating thing I learnt recently is the amount of Muslims that want Sharia law, its like 80% in the middle east and 30% in the west. Islam is a disease spreading, as is Christianity, but Islam seems to be a bigger threat to our way of life. The Pew pole Maher references and documentaries like Undercover Mosque are pretty shocking.

I remember when all the orchards and fruit stands in the Southern Okanagan got bought up by Sikh's and Pakistani's. I was convinced terror cells. Mai misguided youth.

Yes, a terrorist attack could happen on Canadian soil. Like you inferred though, I could also slip in the shower and break my neck tomorrow. Or more likely, I could die in a car accident.

All I meant is that our way of life is not under threat, as some people seem to believe. As cruel as this sounds, you have to remember, it was only 70 years ago we were shoving Japanese into internment camps. If a bunch of Arabs start exploding in Canadian cities, I can pretty much guarantee the problem will be resolved swiftly, as the public outcry will be so large the govt won't have a choice.

the kurds the Muslims the turks the serbians the bosnians the Russians the hells Angels the extreme right the extreme left the hooligans and the police do that all the time. Every week. You want to watch a couple dozen idiots killing each other you just need to know where shit goes down. And everyone does. It's random criminals. The difference is some bitch decided to make it a headline.

Don't tell me your streets aren't littered with Gang violence. The funny choice of weapons is because the Russians control the firearms trade over here.

It's a non event. Every week, about twenty major soccer teams are losing games and the resulting riots are bigger deals than that. If this gets big, the Nazis will show up to kick their asses. Then the left show up to kick the Nazis asses. Ordinary bs.

I've been watching this guy's videos for a year. Good stuff, but slightly uninformed with lots of cherry picked evidence that he recycles throughout each video.

It is interesting that IS, who claims to be the true caliphate and being direct successors of Mohammed appear totally uninterested in the two most important muslim cities: Mekka and Jerusalem. They are not marching on Saudi Arabia and they are not marching on Israel. They are attacking the kurds though and shia's, enemies of Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

I consider it very, very likely that IS was partly trained by Mossad/CIA and funded by Saudi Arabia/Quatar and Turkey.

That is exactly what one of my friends was telling me last week-end. He said the fact that all these terrorist organizations (Al Qaeda included) never attacked Israel or Saudi Arabia is a clear indicator that the U.S. is somehow pulling the strings again. It seems far fetched, but who knows...

I don't know what to think because LukeP hasn't posted yet.

Will form my opinion then.

Could be they know about the Samson Option, basically Israel will use any means necessary to defend themselves. If IS actually showed up, you'd see napalm, white phosperous and all other kinds of nasty shit being used. .

Still, a Wahabist can't hit his toe without cursing Israel and the House of Saud, so it is definitely suspicious.

Glad you posted about the samson option. I just read about it for the first time, that's some crazy shit.

Honestly, the one thing that is interesting about ISIS is that they are extremely smart and are playing their hand really well. They are very intelligent on how they conduct warfare. It's a relatively small group of soldiers (what, they are up to 30/40,000 soldiers now) conducting lightning strike quick attacks.

They are going for territory right now and anyone and everyone AGAINST them is immediately put to death. This means in their 'cleansed' territories they have no more opposition of any kind. NONE.

With their captured territories they are selling oil from the captured fields and are amassing great amount of wealth which they then reinvest to pay their Army of goons. Large swaths of people in the middle east are poor and unemployed and are now being 'rewarded' and paid handsomely. At the same time they can have/use whatever they want.

Playing their cards smart politically. Negotiating with the Turks (trading hostages) and playing the Assad card, playing the Russians against the U.S. using the Assad card etc. etc. etc.. My best guess is that once they have Iraq and Syria they will be quiet for a little while. Gain strength, build alliances etc..

They are currently not in any shape to take on an actual 'military' force. Take on the Israelis would be suicide for them - besides the fact that they actually have to physically go through Lebanon first. Attack Turkey - they get NATO involved. Attack the Saudis the U.S./world gets involved pronto and as a country its WAY to big (for now). Threatening the Saudi oil fields would piss EVERYONE off world wide. Might even get the Russians pissed off enough. Also, my guess is to many 'rich' Saudis are secretly supporting them.

Because its ONLY Syria which was a cluster before and 'Iraq' where everyone wants to avoid another 'war' they can pretty much do as they please. They have a relatively weak U.S. President that likes to hold pretty speeches but is a little short on action (Come on, Dude can not even get his own Secret Service detail straightened out). 15 air strikes over several days to 'help' the Kurds so ISIS can't take Kobani? History repeats itself and the Kurds are giving the shaft (They don't learn - do they?).

So what is next? Which countries would be 'easy' pickings? My guess is Libya, MAYBE Egypt (military is to strong in that country though to let that happen). Lebanon would be an option and could be another stepping stone.

Israel and Saudi? Not going to happen for a 'while'!
