Thinking of a free SMM tool to make

I'm thinking of another free tool to make like FAQ Fox. I wouldn't be collecting any user data/selling anything and never leveraging it for sales so I figured it's fine to post here.

Basic idea: This would be a social media marketing tool. Currently there are no tools that allow users to add social media profiles and track how many followers are gained each day and then allow easy export. This would especially be helpful for anyone with numerous profiles (client work, someone who owns a network, etc).

Ex: Let's say I'm in the fitness niche and have multiple Twitter profiles that I am actively trying to grow. I would add all these profiles to the tool and now I can see across the profiles how many new users are following me each day. Now I have additional data to help in my marketing efforts for growing all these profiles.

First thoughts?

Why would you do it, if you'll never profit from it?

Clearly he'll add 'paid for' options to later versions if it gets off the ground - that would be quite natural progress I would have thought?

A tool that can present bulk raw data easily, automatically and clearly is always going to be useful for some people. The ones that create top notch reports that you hadn't even thought of (and effectively invent another 'metric') are the ones that people will subscribe to.

Nope, 100% free. Not adding upsells to either.

Damn you Julian!

People often underestimate the value of credibility, reputation, affiliation etc.

OK I'm thinkin' of a master plan
Nah, I'm lyin', shorty on my mind
Shorty like a fryin', pan, and I ain't got
Nothin' but sweat inside my hands
(All around the world, girls, all around the world
This goes out to girls all around the world)
So I dig into my pocket, all my money is spent
But I don't need a cent, 'cause shorty priceless
I tell it like this, I been (all around the world)
So baby I can take you (all around the world)
I roll up, this is a hold up
It's young money man, shorty made me smile
When ain't a damn thing funny
He heh, but still don't nothin' move but the money
So baby if I move then we move with the money
(All around the world, girls, all around the world
This goes out to girls all around the world)
Which is my favorite dish
But if I taste you that'll probably switch
And then we will probably switch
(All around the world
This goes out to girls all around the world)
Now I'm walking up the street, whistling this

I think it's a nice idea. Would love to see that going.

Other than just stats of growing, you could grab some ideas of very useful stats from here.

Was hoping someone like you would post because I know you had an impressive Twitter network. Would you take the time to load up your profiles to this tool so you can see how many Twitter followers you have overall, or have per niche? You would also maybe get a nice line graph showing how much you're growing each day with the network.

Also, this wouldn't just be Twitter, I would be setting this up for:

  • Instagram
  • YouTube
  • Vimeo
  • Facebook
  • Pinterest
  • Tumblr
  • Google+

These are all sites that are either easy to grab numbers from or they have a very easy API.

Ok had/have really bad bronchitis and have been bed-ridden for days, could barely work.

Checking this - unless I'm missing something - Sprout Social isn't close to what I'm thinking and only handles a small amount of social media sites. I'm pushing forward.

Sounds like a good idea, I think it's a tool that would be useful. As mentioned above though, perhaps taking the metrics a little further than just follower activity would make the tool much more enticing.

Great price/feature list, I think it could have legs. Imo just the type of addition to the toolbox that could innocuously breach the local business and agency markets both. Also provides you some great real estate to intro other things that you monetize. Am interested.
