Any work around for closed ODesk account

Hi,

I recently had my ODesk account closed without any warning. The reason why because of low hire rate. I sent a thoughtful appeal letter to plead my case to them and even tried calling to follow up. That was 2 weeks ago and they told me I had to wait for their process. I was in the middle of negotiating a couple of potential jobs. I took 6 ODesk tests with great scores and built out my profile.

Does anyone know how I can start another ODesk account I can rebuild? Does that involve juggling proxies, bank accounts, photo ID?
Has anyone been able to successfully build out another account there? I see people who are selling established 5 star ODesk account but am not sure who to trust

Thanks in advance for any advice

What's a better use of your time - finding work outside of ODesk or spending hours/days trying to get back on their good side/creating an account they could easily shut-down again, especially when it's against their TOS?

Who controls your income? You or ODesk?

And why the low hire rate? Price? Competition? Other?

If that's the reason, and ODesk shut you down because of it, maybe that's a sign that there are better markets for your services?

Odesk shuts down accounts for nothing more than a low hire rate?

I'd sooner just go get a 9-5 than fuck around with that bullshit. At least that way you can be guaranteed a regular paycheck for your troubles. Probably end up making more too.

I know there are people here that sing the praises of Odesk, but other than one Russian Magento expert I hired a long time ago for $50 an hour who really did know his shit, my Odesk experiences have been a huge pain in the ass with nothing but disappointment.

These are usually burner accounts that bid high, or in a way to throw off the numbers somehow and give certain bidders an edge. If months go by and a user doesn't get a single job but keeps somehow bidding non-stop, something is probably wrong.

The main question however is how to create another account and get back in after being banned for whatever reason...: So here's the only way I've ever seen it done:

You will need a new identity; a new IP, new physical address, new photo government IDs (magnetic strips must work), new phone numbers, new bank accounts, new voice (get a scrambler), new email and hosting server with new identity on whois information, new router, new computer, new mouse, new fingerprints, new typing/vocabulary/speech patterns, new face(explore surgery), new girlfriend, new car, new dog, new rabbits foot and a new york yankees hoodie with a mustard stain on top.

Good luck Sir.

I have actually closed 2 great clients from ODesk. In our PM exchange there, we mutually agreed to work via Paypal and to communicate directly via phone and Skype. So, although it appears as if I got no business there, I have connected with some solid clients.

Given a second opportunity to work on ODesk, I would definitely comply better with their rules. I just need to understand how I can make that second opportunity happen.

I can contrast the clients the level of clients I've closed on Warrior versus Elance and Guru. The ODesk clients are worth the effort.

So you were cutting them out from the fees they earned for giving you the better clients than other sources, and then they closed your account.

Maybe you could go fuck yourself? Which it seems like they're telling you to do, and it sounds like they're absolutely right in doing so.

FQFT.

So you didn't shut down "without warning" for "low hire rate". You got shut down for explicitly breaking the number one term and condition of the site.

The ODesk clients are worth the effort.

But not worth paying for it seems.

Have some red bricks you fucking moron. With a little luck a mod will be along shortly to ban your ass here too.

My best guess would be to contact them, apologize for fucking them over, and offer to compensate them in order to get your original account re-instated.

OP sounds like a total shit stain. The aged WF account is also suspicious.

OP: Maybe you'll have better luck with your Odesk sob story at digitalpoint?

Why are you letting odesk control who your clients are in the first place? Why are you letting them tell you when you can and cannot work? Why are you literally putting your livelihood and money into the hands of a 3rd party?

Your first mistake was using a site like that to begin with. Build your own connections and relationships. Sites like that are for desperate people and cogs in the machine who have no business skills to build their own brand.

Taking an ad out in your local paper (cheap as fuck) is better than putting up with 3rd party rules.
