Sleep Apneia

Try changing your diet, different nutrients in food may have an effect on you, for example coffee and high caffeine products may have a bigger effect on your body causing you to stay awake, go to bed earlier the more hours sleep you have before 12 are better then after, try and get your body clock into a routine.

You are moving into hypochondria.

That "shock" or "falling and hitting", "like stepping off a curb" feeling sometimes companied by a dream fragment is normal.

A lot of the times, musles twitch when people fall asleep rapidly.
(This also happens when people enter anasthesia induced sleep on the operating table)

It is normally considered to be muscle tension basically "discharging".

holy shit you guys are gonna give the guy a heart attack....

My bet - He prolly dosent even have Apenia...it's prolly some deep down suppressed memory/issue that's poking it's head out... and anything can be cured with a positive state of mind and a healthy lifestyle. Which often conflicts with this line of work. It's all about balance. But ya, see a doc. All will be well.

"I'm not a doctor but I did sleep at a holiday inn last night"

My old man's got sleep apnea and the machine (just got a new one) isn't so bad. You need to go make an appointment with a doctor like yesterday though man. Who the fuck knows what it is with out some tests.

Could be something serious or something minor. Could be stress, could be anything.
Go take care of it.

Fuck Insomia.
I have it and it gets on my nerves something fierce.

Newest development: Waking up at 3am (after 3 hours of sleep) and not able to get back to sleep. 2 weeks now.

For all those who are gonna chime in with "just work on AM then".. never had that.
basically, I am tired as hell, and sitting in front of a computer will not mean I get ANYTHING done, as my brain is fried. Tired as hell, but unable to sleep.

My mom has that form of insomnia. She wakes up at 3 every morning with a song in her head. (How annoying would that be???) This started about 20 years ago for her and she has just learned to embrace it, she says it's her quiet time and usually just reads until she goes back to sleep an hour or two later.

It sucked for me in highschool though. Do you know how many times I would be sneaking back into the house at 4am and my mom would be there arms crossed, toe tapping???

LOL

Funny thing is, if there is time, my wife loves to do a similar thing.
Say, on a weekend, she will wake up at 7 or 8 or something equally ungodly (annoying me, because IF i get to sleep, I love to sleep in).
Then she proceeds to wake me and have breakfast.
After breakfast, she goes back to sleep for an hour or two.

She calls this her "taking a break from sleeping".

Of course, I am left awake after the breakfast, as I can not go back to sleep.

But yeah, if this form of insomnia persists, I will need to devise a strategy, and your mom's sounds like a good one. This is new territory for me, as normally, I could just not go to sleep at all.

to all of you complaining about insomnia, have you tried marijuana? It's proven to help with insomnia and other sleep disorders

Actually, nope.

Regardless how much I like to smoke some weed, it is not a "proven" remedy... why? Simply, I can disprove that.

Smoking weed makes me stay up all night, with a slight drifting away being the best I can manage.

Try again.

Try an cut out on the day naps first, wake up early and keep yourself awake until you cant stay up anymore. Eat fruits and veg, try and balance your life.

If this dont work within a weeks time you seriously need medical help. However before going through the above mentioned go and see a doctor anyway. Your breathing condition sounds serious sort that out first and then worry about sleeping.

Upon Dr. Wickedfire's advice I smoked a bowl about two hours before midnight. It actually helped a lot. I managed to get to sleep a little after 2am which is pretty good and even though i woke up quite a few times (about once every hour) during the night i did actually sleep and the breathing was fine.

I feel really good this morning. Weed may not be the cure but it sure does help :)

glad to hear it, since that worked till 2am i would suggest you try and get your hands on some hash, the high lasts longer so maybe itll get you threw the night.

Never tried it. I have a Just-say-no-to-snorting-or-injecting rule with any recreational substance.

But I watched my club friends do it and thought, Mmmm that just doesn't look very fun.

lol the advice just gets better and better. By the end of this thread we'll all be on horse tranquilizers :)

Yep, horse tranquilizers do it for me... that and my tennis ball on the back of my shirt and I'm down for the count... sleep like a baby.
