First of all I don't understand how all these keyword software programs can have different results. Aren't these programs supposed to record the results of the queries typed into search engines? So how can they have different results? Are some of them making up keywords that they think could be relative to your search term?

I like Adwords keyword tool, but some of these programs can find long phrase keywords. It's also simpler to get a few thousand keywords created instead 200 at a time or however many Adwords provides. Although whatever works.

I don't use any particular one, depends on what im searching and lookin for

I'm not looking for a magic bullet, I'm not a noob in that sense. I have keyword elite and lately they made some changes to their capture so it's frustrating using the software so I have to use one of their old versions. Maybe not everybody likes keyword programs, but it does help me.

Lately I've just noticed many people mention Wordtracker and many people use Keyword discovery. I do a lot of work with PPC so these programs help me, and since I don't want to miss out on anything valuable. I thought I'd just post to see what people say, but nobody's really responding or answering the poll so I suppose I'd just have to see if they have a trial.

I know they should all be similiar since the programs are supposed to give you the search terms that are typed into search engines.

EDIT: Nevermind people are answering the poll. Thank you!!

Not many people are answering (in the comments) because there really is no answer. Each one does something different, or has different data. You need to try them out and see what works for you.

Also in my opinion they are more valuable for organic search research than PPC. For PPC like others have said really your brain is your best tool. I guess the thesaurus like tool in wordtracker could give you good ideas to apply to PPC.

Used keyword elite until the data became pretty useless, and the capthas started driving me crazy.

I use nichebot mainly but I have a shitload of credits stored up so I will use it until they run out but I doubt I would spend money on any keyword tools now.

To much free stuff out there that pulls good keywords.

Actually they don't even use overture anymore from their last update. It's just Google, ask.com and free WT results I believe. Although if you try to use the WT option then you get a capture literally every 2 seconds which makes it impossible to do anything else on your computer so that's the reason I had to install the old version.

I use Nichebot. Combines a couple of them. Lot's of free learning resources too when you join and the guy has been doing a lot of teleseminars lately, creating more free content for members. I think it's only like $15 a month.

You can get all the keywords from Keyword Discovery and a couple others and it only costs $15/month? Just a subscription to Keyword Discovery itself is $70/month I think, so how are they getting Keyword Discovery keywords and more at such a low price?

Saw someone wonder why all the numbers are off between products...

Who cares what numbers they throw out? I'm not saying that to be a jerk, but I've done client work for a long time and spent a ton of money in PPC over a ton of markets and you don't know until you start putting the cash out there... unless you work for the search engine. 50% or more of queries are unique in that they haven't ever been searched before.

The keyword tools are nice to help brainstorm, but seriously if you used Adwords keyword tool, wordtracker (free or paid), keyword discovery (free), ask related searches, a thesaurus, blah blah, blah blah, blah blah, you'll have your keywords. For most people keywords aren't a problem - it's landing pages, choice of niche, and being remarkable.

Wordtracker is good. Use their free trial. Keyword discovery which is free is nice too. I also use Keyword Analyzer.
