People buy broken electronic stuff all the time. Some of them are the same people who buy those ebooks that tell them to go on ebay and buy broken stuff to get the recycling $$.
one time I had a whole shoebox full of 133MHz pentiums that I couldn't even give away. As it turns out, the pins on those are gold-plated. After the auction ended, I relisted and changed the title to "Precious Metal Recovery" and sold for a few bucks.
