I used to use wordtracker exclusively until it fucked me over a few times by drastically changing its results month to month.

Now, when I think I have a good keyword, I use as many tools as possible to see if they agree.


Google adwords keyword tool is a good indicator of traffic a keyword has.

Thanks to everyone who recommended Keyword Discovery, I'm impressed. Has anybody here tried the Enterprise API for $495/month? I'm thinking of giving it a try, but I'm wondering if all the other keywords are also high search keywords.

I'll just use Free Keyword Suggestion Tool from Wordtracker for basic research along with https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal.

If I find a specific site that I'm wanting to spy on I'll go with Online free seo tool detecting search keywords – Seodigger.com

all free, all widely used. If you want to waste money then just go buy some ebooks

The keyword tools are nice to help brainstorm, but seriously if you used Adwords keyword tool, wordtracker (free or paid), keyword discovery (free), ask related searches, a thesaurus, blah blah, blah blah, blah blah, you'll have your keywords. For most people keywords aren't a problem - it's landing pages, choice of niche, and being remarkable.

I agree. And if the old gray matter isn't working, no amount of software is going to give you results.

I've tried both Wordtracker and Wordze and never liked the results. I have niches that easily bring me 15-20 visits per day per keyword, and neither tool "estimates" even 3 searches a month for the same keywords.

Use your brain and adwords keyword tool.
