I got some .PSD files and I need to make an HTML webpage anybody got any ideas? Is .PSD Photoshop? I don't have any experience with photoshop, don't even have the software. I thought I was ordering an HTML landing page and got this instead. Is it going to be complicated to make this an HTML landing page, how would I go about doing this?

Thanks

PSD is photoshop. You would use Photoshop to slice the PSD into pieces. Then export to ImageReady and save as html. Pretty easy to go in an edit the html file afterwards or I'd guess you could use Dreamweaver or Frontpage.. eh.

If I ordered a "landing page" and got a .PSD, I would immediately report the company to Paypal for fraud, and/or attempt to recoup payment by any method available. A PSD file cannot possibly be considered a landing page becaues PSD documents will not display in a web browser naturally without some sort of plugin(I don't even know if this plugin exists). I would still be really pissed if I ordered a landing page and got an HTML version of a gigantic mapped JPEG, which is a lesser sin by far. If the language of the agreement said specifically that you would get a PSD, I would take this as a lesson learned and use a non-scumbag for future endeavors.

I've never used Image ready, but the method on web design that I suggested to you in a previous post will work. As hfgreg suggested, splice the page. Record the pixels of every image you splice and set-up tables with no cell padding(0px X 0px) to the specifications that you recorded.

I thought about filing a dispute with PayPal but, the guy is new here, maybe he didn't know a few other people didn't have a problem with it. If he keeps doing it, he won't be here long anyway. He was running a special that day for $20/each. The quality of the photoshop images is good, I doubt I'll be able to get it to work but, maybe I can outsource the code.

Getting a PSD file is fairly common when buying a template. Specially if it is graphic heavy. They should have sliced it already for you though. If they have not then yes that can be irritating.

To use the file the easiest thing to do is open the file in photoshop, then go to file. Save for web. You will be able to choose different resolutions of the images. Just choose the original tab. Highlight all the slices. Then save as html with images(save in its own folder, and call the page index). You can then open the html file just as you would a webpage. If slices properly you should also be able to open the file in any html program to modify furthur.

Hope this helps.

yes, slicing a PSD would take 5 minutes for someone familiar with PSD.. It would take me 10 minutes(I'm behind the curve with Photoshop), but for someone who DOES NOT EVEN OWN the program(just read the post), it would take... hmm let me think - (10 / 0) = error!!

I've yet to order a landing page, but I find it hard to believe that those who order landing pages(generally doing so because of little HTML/PSD/Design Knowledge) commonly receive them in PSD format! If I order a pizza from a business and get back raw dough, frozen pepperoni, and canned sauce I would flip shit on the delivery man.

Like I stated if it is specifically stated that you get a PSD file back than there is nothing you can do. But honestly how can someone advertise a landing page service, and return non-functioning web data? Doesn't jive with me.

If you can upload it somewhere (website, rapidshare, etc), and give me the link. I will shot it back to you in html. Other then that I do not know how to convert it. I would definately hitup the place you purchased it from to get an html link or a refund.

Here's a novel idea...why not talk to the person and/or company that did it for you.

Anyways, glad you found someone to slice it up for you.

Here's a novel idea...why not talk to the person and/or company that did it for you.

Here is a noveler idea. Why don't you fucking learn how to design and program yourself. It's a head scratcher to me how people survive in this industry without these basic web development skills.

Instead of asking what a PSD file is you shoulda used google and found out and then used google to find a tutorial to slice the thing up with the PS trial if you don't own the software.

Learn some basic, valuable skills... they take you a long way and they ain't that hard to learn. Yes it takes work but you won't have depends on flakes down the road.

Took me less than 10 seconds:

What is a PSD File and How Can It Help Me, BasicTemplates.com Web Site Templates with CSS cascading style sheets

YouTube - Photoshop Tutorial Slice and Export a Website Layout + HTML

There is a nice application called image cut that will do this for you basic wise.

thanks

You're just more novel then me. :D

You are right I should've searched first.

I was going to do this myself, why do you think I said, "I'll give it a try"

I was speaking with the person yesterday that designed the landing page, he doesn't know how to code.

I even downloaded the free trial of photoshop yesterday from adobe and I was going to get to it when I had time. Instead somebody offered to do it so I accepted the offer.

If I did not plan on keeping the landing page and trying to figure it out on my own I would've filed a paypal dispute to get my money back. Since I was planning on trying to get it to work, I wasn't going to get my money back and still use the landing pages.

If he stated it was design only, then there is no problem. I always charge extra for slicing and coding.

Design is part of the affiliate game, this was a lesson learned. Always ask the designer if the template comes sliced and coded. If not, ask what it would cost extra and request to see examples of his slicing/coding work.

He did not state it was design only.

Somebody asked if HTML was included and he finally said:

"Sorry PHD only, sorry for the confusion :error:"

He has a thread in the buy/sell/forum here on WF.

He advertised as a "Landing Page" without any other statement, I've been on WF and in affiliate marketing for more than a year and this has never happened to me. I now do realize I should ask if peoples landing pages will include HTML.

If you have any problems getting the slicing taken care of, I have some time I can contribute my skills to help out.

I'm kind of a photoshop ninja trying to become a bit more active in this community. :)

Thank you for your offer. Although recenlty I'm hesitating on asking for help on here. I'm trying to avoid the WF nerd crew bashing....God forbid I ask for some quick help...God knows I have nothing else to do..just sitting around jacking off...right...just another noob with nothing else to do except bother everybody...

Alternatively, you can just save the whole thing as an image and stick it into a web page centered and use an image map for links. Easy if you have dreamweaver. Of course you don't get the benefit of any text, but that's really only an issue if your LP is text heavy, which it's probably not if it's a PSD anyway.
