Reliable International Internet Telephony?

Been using Skype so far and it works "alright". The problem is that sometimes it's interrupted for a few seconds. I do have 100KB up and 400KB down, that should be enough for voice right?

Anyway...

I'm looking for something reliable.

Anyone know of a solution that's better then Skype?

(I live in the netherlands and I'm looking for something that uses the internet preferably. If that's crap I'll just go with a regular line... Calling with my mobile to the US is $3 per minute so...)

I used a little voip box and one of those providers but its about the same as skype, if you are having probs with skype good bet you will have problems with them.

skype is one of the best services out there. i use it personally myself. like one of the posters said above if your having issues with skype you'll probably have the same issues with other providers because traffic will be going through the same internet to get to your location.

Yeah, I kind of figured that. What internet speed are you guys on? I'm on 400 down/100 up. It would be helpful to find out if it's the speed that's lacking or the connection. Or maybe it's the distance... Anyone else making calls from Europe to the US with Skype?

I do.

Actually had the same issues about half a year ago, now it seems to be just fine.
BUT.. I only use Skype to Skype - not Skype to Telephone.

Upgrade your Skype client?

More than likely it's on your side, but take a look at setting up QoS on your home router (if it's supported)..
