(Sorry for so many podcast topics)

I've been getting people asking to sponsor (buy advertising space) on my podcast. How much should I charge? I was thinking of basing it on the number of listeners from the previous week.

In my opinion, keep it pretty low until you build up a larger audience, but for now if I were you I'd format it like this.

1. Intro
2. Sponser #1
3. Show Content, Interview, etc.
4. Conclusion, Upcoming show info, etc
5. Sponser #2

Don't start mixing in advertising mid-show until you've built up more listership, in which case WMR might come knocking on your door anyway.

Also, a piece of advice: don't just be another shoemoney-esq interview podcast... That gets dry rather quickly. Try to keep it fresh with original content and limit interviews to maybe every other show.

You could open it up into a bid system. Gather all your sponsors and have them bid on what a spot is worth. High bid gets the spot.

How else can you find out how much more it's worth without undervaluing it?

With #5 I don't think that could go for much of anything. It would have to come at least a few minutes before the end of the show, because when the shows done - your audience has no reason to stick around. Break the show up into three parts and one advertisement between the parts.

Also mention your sponsors through the show for a little extra bang.

I was thinking the same about that last spot.

Maybe:

- Intro
- Sponsor #1
- Interview
- Sponsor #2
- Second Interview
- Some followup content and what to expect next show...
- The End

Another piece of advice - stagger your guests out to different podcasts. I think trying to have Eli, Jon and Smax on one show is just too many heavy hitters for one podcast. Eventually you'll be scraping the bottom of the barrel for guests to come on and give you some content.

On a side note, I had recent started a website at revenue.fm - I was going to to the podcast thing, but I don't even have enough time for my own projects, so it was on the back burner. If you're interested in doing something with the domain, PM me and we can work something out.

Shoemoney has a podcast?

I never really go to his site.

Thanks for the advice though, I'll keep it small for the time being. As for having those three big guys on the same episode, that was at Jon's request.
