Actually, for me it's the different way around.

I get more and more ambitious during happy hour.

It's a function of everybody telling kids they can do whatever they want in life. Then the kids grows up and finds out, 'Shit, this is hard! And the rich kids have already got all the good spots taken!'

Also, at my age I don't have the energy to revolutionize the world. I just want to be comfortable (and crush my enemies).

After a while in corporate, "I'm ambitious" changed to "Living well is the best revenge" but if something actually worthwhile or unique comes along I'm still ambitious. Just not for something like 'If you do a great job, you can make Exon's stock go up a sixteenth of a point."

A bigger bunch of circle jerkers I have yet to meet.
I spend time there because it's a great place to pick up ideas, particularly for offline promotions, but bloody hell, you point out some reality, and it's like pulling the tablecloth out from a card house.

I still have plenty of ambition, but I know what's realistic for a person of my means and connections. There are some things that I can easily do, that others can only dream of... but there are other things that I will never get to do simply by the world not working that way.
