Ever get these useless fucking threats from people?

I don't get them often, its actually maybe only once per 6 months or a year which is pretty fucking good but when I do get them wow they are foolish.

The most recent one I've gotten was for a $30 product I sold around 4 or 6 months ago, which I helped the guy get things set up in the first place, heck standard script installs I charge $30 alone for and I did this one for free and gave support for several months after answering questions like what is a database and how do I use it?

After awhile you just get a headache with questions like this and after your obligations are far gone from the deal and you ignore them, they come at you saying they will take you to the authorities if you don't respond.

For what $30 bucks on something you purchased like 4 or 5 months ago, I'm pretty sure lawyers cost more then $30 dollars to go after someone in another country.

Also the reason for this hate mail is because there site was working fine for several months but then this last week it has wen't down, hmm I'm no expert (Oh Wait Yes I Am) but when something works for several months and just suddenly goes down that is usually the customers fault and not the product owner, well most of the time it is, this I guess depends on the product, but in this case its the customers fault.

This is the end of my rant but my final words are that when making threats why not take 5 minutes to think up something valid or better yet go after the people who took you for hundreds or thousands because if $30 is going to break your bank your already fucked.

Anyone else have some stories on threats that mean absolutely jack shit.

I feel for you man, I really do.
Here's some good stories to blow off steam with, and show you're not alone: Customers Suck! Cartoon - powered by Walrus

About once a week, it's my turn to answer new problem tickets with our P2P offer.
Some of the retarded threats we get on that. My all time favourite is someone claiming to be a Senator's wife saying she'll get a bill passed in Congress to bla bla bla send me to pound-me-in-the-arse federal prison...
Yeah, I'm not a U.S. citizen, but I'm pretty sure her husband would be working in the Senate if he were a Senator.

If you're going to B.S. someone with a threat, at least make the threat sound like you know what you're talking about.

Matt, that person has balls of steel!

You have got to be kidding me! What a moron. Maybe you should replace the images with naughty pics to scare the visitors or maybe tell'em since they are hotlinking your images without permission and then threatening you, that you might go ahead and report to their webhost who will probably promptly give them the boot.

Insane.

ive had someone threaten to sue me when my ad showed up when they searched for their domain in yahoo. It was some weird type of matching that yahoo was doing and i wasnt even bidding on their domain.

Also i was going to buy a domain off some guy and i backed out. And he said he was gonna sue me.

I feel for you man, I just launched a new product about a month ago and I am seriously considering ditching it. The money it brings in is pretty good but I didn't count on having to do this much technical support. I had a guy bitching at me in an email yesterday because his password didn't work, turns out his caps were turned on :|

I dunno dude...

I hear pre-paid law is preeeeetty cheap these days. Hell, they can just churn out C&D threats for ya all day long without breaking a sweat. Just ask Shoemoney.

True but the site is long gone and I barley sell the product he purchased anymore, plus he is the only one who has ever complained about it and I mean its only $30 bucks so if he can somehow manage to get that pissy I'll send him his $30 bucks back and put it in the legal case file haha.

P.S. Good to see you back we were starting to think you were dead.

I work in the b2b realm and very often I get software customers who blame me when they screw something up with Windows. The idiots just never know where the line is actually drawn between my software and their OS or idiot user screwups. All they know is this computer thingy isn't doing what it should be and you're the computer guy so you come fix it.
You can't fix stupid, jackass.

I'm was in the web hosting business and I know exactly what you mean.

The problem is these fucks are too stupid to Google their problem and want you to wipe their ass indefinitely.

Another issue is you have to treat each situation with kid gloves. It's one thing to tell someone bitching about your brick and mortar to piss off, it's another to tell someone online, because the fuck WILL blog about it, go to other forums and bitch about you, etc., and this all gets indexed for future customers to read about.

I've given up a lot of money over the years to little pricks who didn't know what they were getting into. They think they're the next Ebay and want you to make it happen for them, but when you tell them the price, they think it's unreasonable that they have to pay thousands and they bitch to no end.

The best method for this is giving them an avenue to complain to, and just set it on autorespond saying something like "Our Legal Team are currently looking into your problem and will update you on any progress".

Chances are they will forget about it in a month. I like eli's method of using a hosting company as a vehicle for complaints, plus its funny to read through them all!

I don't ever post, but I had to reply to this as it made me laugh.

Just an fyi the U.S. Congress is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate.

A lot of times when I pwn n00bs in the various video games I play they threaten to come to my house and beat me up.
