My First Spore Creature

Over the last few years or so I've barley ever played any games at all, but recently 2 games have caught my attention one is Spore and the other is Starcraft 2.

Anyway Maxis and EA have done some pretty good tactics for getting the Spore brand out and around the net including the ability to very easily and quickly upload your Spore videos to YouTube.

I just created my first creature today and uploaded to YouTube to see if by chance the game creator automatically embeds a Spore logo or promotion in it somewhere and well the video title automatically get filled with "Spore Creature Creator Video" and the descriptions automatically get filled with "This video was created using the Spore Creature Creator." and the tags automatically get "creature spore".

Its one of the best games that is coming out, I cannot find the old original announcement show off conference video but the thing was created basically with prosedural programming.

The game is a never ending game, it looks like a kids game but the development behind it is amazing.

Thats why I'm most interested in it because of how they created it and what was involved.

Think of it this way, its a single player game but you play against the world as in a multi-player game.

You play against other worlds, galaxies, universes, aliens, ect... that are created from other people playing the game but its a single player game connected to a central network so it just keeps growing and growing as more people play.

haha I figured earlier a lot of people would be making big dicks on there creatures.

The creator has a huge Vista bug in it which made me laugh because EA is what a billion dollar company or close to it haha.

To download the creator you have to use the EA download manager, however once downloaded you use the EA download manager to install the creator but if it crashes when you go to play the game then you have to uninstall the EA download manager in order for the game not to crash.

The reason behind it is because the game structure tries to access the EA download manager which causes it to crash if its already installed but it never re-installs it, its really fucked up and I hope they get it fixed for the real game release on September 7th.

Also there is a reason for all the stuff to download and install, but I won't get into it, just know if you are running IE 7 you'll very likely have another issue with it not installing.

To fix this upgrade to IE 8 Beta (Which oh my fucking god I actually think Microsoft may have did something half right this time) and upgrade to Flash Player 10.

Do this and you won't have any issues at all.

It always amazes me that companies will spend millions on games and still have common bugs but I guess they can't think of everything.

trust me, if it can be done so. you will be. but eventually people will start making other stuff that will be even nastier I imagine. Just give it time.

if I play, I obviously wouldnt use that Spore. its just entertainment.

The EA Download Center (or whatever they call it) is a piece of shit.
And no, you do not need it to download the spore creature creator. Just say no and download the pack directly.

WHAT....fuck off.....god dambit I swear I looked for a way around the EA downloader.....talk about a waste of time.....oh well and yes it is a huge POS.
