Why doesn't wf forward non www requests?

I thought as a general rule it was recomended to redirect request to non www sites to www sites as in wickedfire.com -> www.wickedfire.com.

Is this a good idea and is there really benefit in doing this:question4:

Funny thing is I always go here via typing in the url as I am too lazy to make a toolbar bookmark. Today I typed it in without www for the first time and saw the lack of redirect to www and no cookie to login...

So for that alone you should do it.

Depends on how you set the cookie. It could be set to work for domain + subdomains + subfolders(this usually works)
