Number 5. Imagine someone clueless coming across WF and the first thing they see is that banner - they will surely get teh gay pheer and run away.
 
Where are these banners going? What's the point? If it's to get attention you need something like 3 4 5 or possibly 8. If it's just to maintain our coolness, then 2 or 6 is fine.

I think it is supposed to be something to replace the useless buttons on the top of the page. I'm still hoping #3 will pull ahead, but I also like the idea of having a rotation, either random or based on user-agent.
 
The problem with #3 is that it's going to get old after a while.
Plus it's slanted to the left but the forum layout itself is centered.

My favorite are #2 and #6
