hello, im new to this site, but know the affiliate world for sometime.
i have an acount in a bittorent site which is also dedicatedto affiliate and have alot of books.

i also have books about seo, ppc, etc.

but always when i try to learn, i find myself confused, jump from topic to topic and drop it after sometime.
some of the affiliate books tell you the steps to do, and when i tried to do that, i got myself more confused, bombered my desktop with alotof things and again droped it.
i just cant find a right order to learn it at and a good strategy.
at the moment, i still dont have alot of things in order to start affiliate(like credit card/paypal, so icant buy anything not even domains), but would like to start readin as much as i can.

what should be the right order of which you learn?
first read as much affiliate books, without doind the steps? and then as much seo etc?

whan can be a good learning plan for lets say 2-3 months, a few hours daily?(with ofcourse starting a project after some time of learnings).
what knowladge you should have that will benefit you?

affiliate
ppc
seo
and what else?

i would really appreciate your help.

How about follow the fucking rules and sit your lazy ass down in the Newbie forum for a few dozen hours?

(or wait, did you want us to give you a turnkey "all the answers" reply so you can immediately make interwebz monies?)

I remember when I was a child I would read programming books for 10 hours a day. I'd go through a book a week.. and then after finishing a few books I sat down, opened up my editor and thought "err.. wtf do I do now?"

Things won't stick if you don't 'do'. If you're serious about learning something, it's gonna take time, energy and probably money. The proper way to learn is to set aside $400-1000 and just make 2-3 campaigns. When you fail, begin reading the books and suddenly it all makes sense. "Oh, that's what I should of done" or "hmm, that's a good idea" - you'll be able to relate to what the author is talking about.

Damn that never gets old, gotta browse WF in a seperate browser.

Seriously though, to the OP, if you've already read a crap load of books and have "dropped them" or whatever cos you don't understand, then maybe you're not cut out for this industry.

Get off you ass, make at least one site - then come back so we can say how crap it is and tell you how to make it better. Then do it again, and again, and again.

Eventually you'll find that people are laughing less and less and giving you more respect as you get better - that's the way to do it. It is not easy, you will probably fail IF you don't put in 100%.

If you aren't ready for putting in that amount of effort now you might as well give up, right now.

Trial and error. Find offers, find places to buy traffic or get traffic for free, and see what works. Figure out how to make landing pages. Have cash to burn.

I would make a guess that most of the books you have been reading follow this model:

Intro - You can turn your computer into an internet cash machine
1. Step One - sign up for my CPA offer
2. Step Two - sign up for some of my friends' CPA offers
3. Step Three - download this stuff
4. ????
5. Profit

They have it all wrong. It should be like this:

1. Step One - Sign up for some gay affiliate webmaster forums You will find that a lot of the 'new' and 'top secret' methods you come across in those other books have been openly discussed for months, even years.

2. Step Two - Read about what people in the business are currently into. If you thought about jumping on an offer but read about several other people getting screwed, then you will probably pass up that offer. You can avoid making a costly mistake by keeping yourself informed.

3. Step Three - Learn how to ask a question. For every 1000 or so dumbasses that get flamed, you get one who knows how to ask a question and get help.

4. Step Four - Pick one thing you have read about that interests you and try it out. Be realistic about it; for example, if you are pushing adsense on one or 2 sites and bring in $0.25 to $0.50 the first month, you're doing ok.

You're still reading this? I don't think there are really any more steps.

never a truer word said. personally when i learned php i took a script i was interested in and disected it one function/line at a time until i fully understood it then i built my own script to do the same.

now if only we could do this with affiliate marketing?? oh yes of course we can.

join cpa network

while(you have 50 dollars in wallet){
pick offer
search google/yahoo/whatever & analyze ads
analyze ads landing pages (or lack of) WITHOUT CLICKING ON THE ADS douche
build campaign in google/yahoo/whatever with SIMILAR ads/landing page
spend $50
if(make sales)bank! spend more!
else{repeat steps above until rich/broke}
}
if(broke) analayze where you went wrong, earn some more money and try again with new knowledge from previous mistakes

really you can read all you want but you won't make shit til you just do it

I think that the first step is to actually get a credit card and a paypal account - and I'm not being a smartass. Without going through this part of the process, I guarantee that you won't be successful. It also helps to use the CC/Paypal to buy something online - get to see what the purchase process feels and looks like. You can't expect people to give their money to you when you yourself have never bought anything online.

Buy ebooks. I'm serious.

Buy something like Day Job Killer or Love Duvet (Or was it Money Duvet?)

Ya ... good luck sonny.

Honest to goodness, I have never read an ebook that was usefully to me as a newbie.

Like some things you need to learn:

1. How to use the freakin' control panel on your webhost. I mean, the first time I saw control panel, I thought to myself so WTF do I put my website? What is phpadmin? WHAT is an add-on domain?

2. Wordpress, Drupal, what are these things?

3. What do those funny little symbols mean at the end of ? that is next to the domain name in the URL?

4. Once I've registered a domain name, how do I map it to my website?

5. Ummmm, how do I know if anybody is visiting my website? How do I track conversions

And the list goes on and on. Of course, if you keep reading those shitty ebooks, you'll never learn the basic technical stuff that you need to know before you can even think of making some monies.

Those damn ebooks are a cancer to the industry.

Try PPC Coach BUT remember YOU NEED TO DO THE WORK TO LEARN. If your not gonna do work and your just looking for a secret bullet, give up now.

while i agree with you narsticle i hate the term failure. i prefer to look at it as buying data. if i can buy data and not lose too much money i see that as success because now i have the basis of a campaign AND i don't have to admit to myself that my attempt was a failure ;)

so go out and buy some data, analyze what you get (hopefully for free) and act accordingly. really AM is not all that difficult but it does take a certain skillset.

firstly i found you need:
1) balls - read above and buy yourself some data even if just to get your feet wet. say $50 on a couple of offers
2) basic understanding of hosting and cpanel
3) bit of photoshop and at very least basic html or dreamweaver/html editor skills
4) excel basics - you will need that

much beyond that you can grasp the basics of traffic generation from things like the black ink project, early posts and the newbie basics from (aagggh i hate saying this) uberaffiliate and jonathonvolk and of course right here. go to the affiliate marketing and newbie section and sort by star value. read all of those posts and that should get you going, at least with some strategies to start.

learn programming and graphic design, then start researching affiliate stuff

if you have to outsource your design/programming or use a tool to do it (ie. landing page generator), someone else will always be one step ahead

stop trying to learn what to do and just start doing stuff. the best thing I ever did was start and fail horribly. if you're doing SEO you can normally make a few bucks even if you do everything completely wrong. and when you make your first few sales, if you're anything like me you'll go crazy and massive obsessive with it and figure it out. but you'll never learn until you actually do something.

the only thing the guys writing & selling ebooks know how to do is sell ebooks to noobs that want to make money online

by the way, i'm selling this ebook...
