Dr. Oz said tonight on Larry King Live (CNN) when asked about Oprah's Acai Berries: " I am not aware of any berries that can make you lose weight"

I mean I know for a fact that Açai doesnt help at all on losing weight, it actually gets you fat... at least the real thing here in Brazil.
The first time I spoke to my wife regarding the affiliate programs for acai to help people losing weight she was like, WTF?

Anyways,

How do you think this will affect the berries search?
What is the reach of this show over there on the US?

Are the same folks watching larry king live, the same folks likely to be clicking on weight loss banners? It might have only detered most people who would have probably avoided them anyways. And when it comes to statistics, there's a counter argument for everything and I've heard some weird ones. Especially when you got the folks with the conspiracy theory minds (ie: FDA doesn't want us to use natural remedies, etc)

I think it would be a stronger impact, if there was perhaps some headline stating users of Acai berries die.

Diet pills are marketed to idiots.
No one who actually does any real research into actually losing weight comes up with diet pills as an answer. They come up with answers like "Maybe I should get the fuck off the couch" and "It may be healthier if I ate a cucumber instead of this bag of potato chips with Alestra".
They then become gym/jogging junkies, wear brightly coloured lycra-spandex, and start blending everything into a non-dairy smoothie with extra protein.

As opposed to sitting on the couch and eating berries that are predominantly cellulose fiber and fructose sugar.

Honestly, I hate diet pills, and I think it's morally bankrupt of people to be marketing them in the way they are. Call a spade a spade, and say that they're just chalk, or maybe some amphetamine, and I'll be cool... But the stuff that says it's all natural and great for you... fuck right off.

With that said, I think it's intellectually bankrupt of people to trick themselves against common sense and what should be their own better knowledge into thinking that this shit works.

@Kblessinggr: Maybe, the FDA made Oprah sit down with Dr. OZ and deny the powerful effect of the berries on CNN because they dont want you to know the TRUTH!!! (my conspiracy theory) lol

@HarveyJ: I agree with you regarding : "morally bankrupt of people to be marketing them", so my quesiton would be, is there a line not to cross at the moment of marketing something, or is it just a make a buck thing?

Acai berries.

The Acai berries have been on AOL today and the report is that it is a scam and the Oprah endorsement is not that at all and Rachel
Ray is not endorsing them either

I think it will probably cause more searches and slightly lower conversion rates. People will believe what they want, and if they believe that Acai helps with weight loss, many of them will continue to "try it out" anyway.

Agreed

Well put. If someone wants to really lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle. Eat Better and Excercise. Its not rocket science.

I'm pretty sure the Oprah endorsement is overblown by network marketers.

I thought I remembered watching the show where she had Dr Oz talking about different health tips, and different fruits and veggies, etc.

I think he talked about how acai was high in antioxidants and you should eat them instead of snacking on junk, and drink acai juice instead of soda.

Then all the different Monavie's and Acai Berry MLMs started blowing it way out of proportion saying that Dr Oz and Oprah were endorsing their products and trumpeting Acai Berries as the new superfood, blah blah blah.

So basically yeah acai berries are great for your health, they are high in antioxidants and polyphenals (if thats how you spell it) but the Oprah/Dr Oz endorsements are way overblown.

Hello friend,

I no worry about the acai pill make people fat. They use very little acai berry in it. Too expensive so use very little. I think most of ingredient in pill are cheap filler and laxative.

So when fat people take they poop more and may lose a little weight. The company hope fat people think acai pill actually work for lose weight and no cancel trial then and pay $90 for something cost $10 or less to make.

Good luck bro.

Way less than $10. The shipping costs more than the pills, label, and bottle.
