How I hate people bitching about how companies are so evil. When the average joe stops using his car, quits using google & takes action to save the planet, after that you have right to bitch.
 
So....? Google didn't invent the power systems that damage the atmosphere...

Why don't people start fixing the problem at the root for once. Anyone heard of Zero Point Energy? I never heard of it outside of youtube so I'm not sure what to think of it, in terms of it being real and viable...

how about the elimination of billions of tons of CO2 by people using Google to:

find places to shop online
find information and not go to the library
etc etc all type of activities that would otherwise require transportation where combustion occurs

What's stupid is worrying bout google's search emission ( by averaging the server power to how many searches are done in that period of time ), when we could be worried more about the shitload of shared hosting or perhap's fox own website producing more waste due to inefficient coding taking up more cycles.

Or they can do what a number of other companies have done just to make themselves look green... by buying Certificate of Carbon Neutralization.

Basically you buy these certificates per amount of CO2 or electricity used, which basically is said to use that money to offset the balance... like um... planing a tree that'll we'll probably kill before adulthood anyways.
 
I'm sure Google's own PR department will point all those things out in a tongue in cheek manner. The one good thing about the company is that they've managed to retain a sense of humour, even if their motto is know "Do no Evil... just collect enough info to blackmail EVERYONE!"

Google's already been addressing those problems. Part of their charitable work includes solar panelling, and I'm certain I've seen somewhere that they have their own environmental initiatives that they intend on using tidal and solar generators to supply 10-20% of their energy needs by 2012 or some shit like that... which is actually a huge undertaking if you think about it.

Really, I'm not convinced about this global warming thing. The planet goes through cycles. We have a bad hurricane cycle on the Gulf Coast every 20 years. Things get washed away, then they quiet down again. Enough time for everyone to rebuild their beach house, get complacent, then get slammed again when the hurricanes return.

Concerning weather....I trust in God, and I use the Old Farmer's Almanac.

Oh yeah... I LOVE the Weather Channel.

Its called a ZPM (Zero Point Module) and the majority of them are in the pegesus galaxy where atlantis used to be, however since atlantis just came back home and pretty much wasted 3 of the ZPMs we have we will probably have to fire up the old school method of travel (I.E. The Stargate) and go grab a few more.

Were not smart enough to build our own ZPMs yet since the ancients were all knowing and didn't leave any easy to follow plans.

if there's a problem the problem is coal. it's nice to imagine we can paint our homes and businesses and gadgets and other shit 'green', but coal power (>50% world demand) is the only major contributor to what some assholes call global warming.
