To the affiliates and networks that promote this crap:

How can you look at yourselves in a mirror, and how do you sleep at night?

You know these product are scams. Defrauding people during a time when the global economy has tanked is not cool. In my opinion, you guys are just the lowest type of scum.

And no, I didn't buy any of these shitty products.

i sleep with a pillow and a blanket. Usually on my side but sometimes i lay on my stomach with one arm and one leg dangling off one side of the bed which typically results in a brutal fall sometime through the night.

The funny thing is most affiliates will get scammed by these offers in the end anyway.

How many times have you seen these questions: My diet PPC campaign was profitable at first. But then there was all this competition and my keyword bid prices went up. What happened?

lol. Wake up people. Any network that is shady enough to promote these scam offers is shady enough to steal your profitable campaigns. And they can bid a hell of a lot more than you and still be profitable.

Eli, I respect your opinion and love your bluehatseo blog. I have no problem with blackhat techniques to get listed in the top of Google results.

But scamming the average citizen with recurring billing scams, is not cool. I guess the same people that promote these type of scam offers are the same type of people that will make fraudulent submits to the networks. Catch 22 situation with both publishers and networks.

I think we can both agree that ScamHat and BlackHat are two different things.

Heres another twist on your moral crusade. Banks have quite happily fucked people over for many many years. Now that all has come crashing down around them guess who helps them out - yep - you and me with our lovely tax moniez.

So heres how I sleep at night - there are a lot things wrong with the world. Recent events has taught us that it really is every man for himself.

Do what you gotta do to get by. If people are too dumb to read the terms then thats their issue not mine.

By the way Joe "Affiliate" what do you push? - lentil beans and subscriptions to Green Peace.

You're not saying anything we don't already know. Some hot new offer comes out for one of these rebills that pays good and converts great like 5-10%. So we all switch to it and it continues to convert like that for a couple weeks then they start skimming and waiting on rebills which drops its conversion down to less than 1%, not to mention the cookie hijackers and mailers get ahold of it. Then about that time another "hot new offer" comes out and we all switch our links and the rotation starts all over. It's just playing the game.
 
How are grants a scam?? Some of you people are idiots if you think it is.. A SCAM is something that TAKES your money and you never see it again. Or something that sells you a product/service that isn't what you were told it was. Kinda like telling someone you can buy a phone and selling them an empty jar of air. That would be a scam.

Here's how grants work, okay?

A grant offer provides a bunch of GUIDES on how to PROPERLY educate yourself on the tasks of finding, choosing, and then applying for the grant.

The "scam" part is usually what people consider how its being marketed or sold. But if the site gives customers refunds when they call and ask for it, and cancels their membership when the customer is dissatisfied, then its not a scam at all.

Now back to grants inner workings..

Is the information available for free on gov sites and the internets? Yes, but not most of it, and certainly not the most important parts of it. Those you have to go about a 5-6 week waiting game of trial and error with the feds of them sending your form back and saying "no, you're missing parts 1-7" or "sorry but you need to fill this out again -- with no reason why".

Instead you get exactly what you should do and then what you shouldn't do on top of the info guides to successfully get a grant on your first try. The content in the members area SHOULD be updated at least once per month if you're going to use recurring billing on the offer.

Now most grant offers suck on the back end. I mean REALLY suck. Like bad links that go nowhere, or links to only the gov sites. These offers aren't scams, they are just piss poor quality and the developers should be shot. But don't go and group ALL of the grant offers together as one big scam.

So in the end a grant offer should consist of information to help the user do all their homework on obtaining a grant from the government, whether for personal or business use. There should be enough information provided so that the user would not have to spend 4-5 weeks mulling around the interwebs looking for the free shit on their own. Its a packaged deal.

A grant scam = a site or solicitor that sells the person on the fact that if they pay $XX or $XXX then they will INSTANTLY obtain a grant or not have to do any work to obtain it.
 
Actually, the only real "scammy" type of offer from the lot is probably Acai Berry as a diet option, as Acai is actually just an antioxidant, and not even all that powerful (its less effective than a glass of Concord Grapejuice). Although the diet product is mixed with other things like appetite suppressors and whatever else, they just focus on the Acai Berry part because it was new and fresh and got a ton of press coverage.

The products and services we promote may not be very ethical or may not sit well with you, but as long as the company/advertiser gives refunds, is FTC compliant and honors cancellations of memberships then its not really a scam afterall, and that goes with ANY offer we promote.

So shove it.

The scam is the recurring billing or the republishing of free information and charging for it.

Say what you want to make yourself feel better. You know the real deal Jon... I know your not an idiot. (just maybe need a morals check)

Actually I am saying something that a lot of people don't already know. Evidence is based on some of the recent posts here on WF asking about Acai Berry conversions, etc.

My post is more for the average affiliate marketer. When I say, "a lot of people", I don't mean a seasoned IM veteran like yourself Eli.

Do you seriously disagree with me here? I mean.. come on.
