YouTube "celebs" making a earning vlogging?

I always wondered, channels like Hotforwords or maybe SXEphil, I presume those guys have only one job, and that's making videos for YT.

Is it profitable? I'm not thinking about doing something like that, just asking.

Sxephil said he makes 2 cents/view. He gets like 1 mil views a week, so that's like $250k a year. All it takes is some view fraud or good content or a pretty face/tits if you can't write anything worth watching (i.e. hotforwords)

When they become popular, Youtube has them sign some sort of video incentive where they can make a load of cash.

I'd say he's doing pretty well. It's also interesting to note that he makes far less videos than some of the other popular Youtubers

Plus you get paid per click for the in-video adsense that displays sometimes, including in embedded views.

As far as the regular partner agreement, it's not necessarily 2 cents a view. It's actually a 60/40 split of ad revenue between the content creator and YouTube. Last year it seems like either they were serving more ads or charging more for advertising, because revenue is way down this year with similar view counts (for me, anyway).
