What's the best simple tracking system?

I'm going to be sending out daily Press Releases, and want to have a variable coded onto the links in each PR.

So: Domain.com/12345

And then, I can login somewhere, and see visits to that link, where from etc etc. And have a pixel that fires, on opt-in... So I can see how many opt-ins per Press Release.

Custom Coded? Or is there something out there...

Thanks for the suggestions.

Does Prosper202 have a paid version, like Tracking202 Pro?

What is recommend, self hosted (Prosper) or Tracking202.

In my opinion hosting your keyword tracking information on others people website = bad idea.

Yea but if you're just starting out your negative ROI isn't going to attract any campaign snipers.. It's a good option to have available for those who just want to test the system before installing it on their system also.

Stick with prosper202 and host it yourself, I used tracking202 free hosted edition for like 2 weeks until I realized how bad there hosting was and lost all kinds of data.

Best setup I've found so far:

Media Temple DV - $50 a month but its worth every penny.

Prosper202 FTW!!!!

From the demo video, it looks like the URL Prosper202 generates is rather long. (i.e. adds a load of variables to the end)

As I'll be putting this URL in press releases, this could pose a problem.

Can anyone using Prosper202, attest to this?

php redirect? I honestly think that digitalpoint would be a better forum for you.

How'd you get it installed? I switched to LiquidWeb from MT solely because MT didn't have zend installed properly and I couldn't complete the prosper install.

Longer URLs help conversions. It's estimated that 125 characters is where profits peak.

Prosper202 had some problems installing on 3 different hosts (godaddy, hostgator, bluehost). I may have just been doing something wrong but I have installed many different scripts and websites so I don't know what I could have been doing wrong. Google analytics isn't terrible but the fact that is doesn't update in real-time can become a pain.

What are you talking about... Prosper202 is easy to install on hostgator and godaddy...

True, but can't the dudes at your hosting company easily see all your data if they wanted? I don't know crap about hosting but it would seem they have access to all our shit or at least could get our id/pw out of the database. Unlike with T202 they prob don't know what we are doing but still a scary thought if the hosting dudes have affiliate connections.

Is the only way to protect against any issue like this to have your server sitting in your house?
