Car problems lets hear em

I haven't had any car trouble of my own recently however a few weeks back my cousin slept in and didn't make it to work that day, he made up this story that his truck needed some parts and didn't start so he couldn't make it in.

So to keep the story legit we swapped vehicles the next day, anyway on my way to work I stopped at the store (6am) turned the truck off wen't in got some shit came back out started the truck but when I released the key when it fired the starter stuck on, so I was like fuck tried turning the key backwards and nothing happened and for some reason I turned the key forward (To start it again) the truck shut off.

I was like ok what the fuck, I released the key and the started stuck on again, turned it forward and the truck shut off, so I poped the hood, opened the door while having one hand on the key with the ignition in the on position, let it go, ran to the front of the truck opened the hood and ripped off the positive termanal of the battery which killed the truck.

Finally figured out that his ignition was fucked but got it to work so I'm now back on the road headed to work when I start to smell burning wires I don't htink anything of it then a couple seconds later I pull upto a stop sign push in the clutch and clouds of smoke start to billow up from the floor boards.

My work was just down the road so I said FUCK YOU bitch if your going to burn down on me you'll burn down in my works parking lot where some fire extinguashers are close, so I rolled down the window and fucking punched it to work, smoke billowing out the windows, hard to breath, hard to see.

I get to work jump out of the truck, and notice the smoke isn't really coming from anywhere anymore, I was like what the fuck, looked around and realized that his wires for his glow kit were behind the clutch and when I engaged the cluch it rubbed through the wires, arced out and was burning the wires around it, so I saved that before the truck burned down.

At this point I'm fucking pissed so I slam the door but the door doesn't shut because his custom door panel came loose and got caught in the door, so I fucking ripped off his custom door panel tossed it in the passenger seat and went to work.

Came home later said your glow kit is fucked, your door panel is a bit fucked and in the passenger seat, your ignition is fucked, and your truck is a piece of shit.

How's that for a car trouble story, this is all true by the way.

Fucking hilarious!

My problems turns out to be a busted ball joint. I'm crossing my fingers that the strut is fucked up or I that I didn't bend a control arm.

I completely agree with your statement. I bought a brand new 01 VW Golf (in 2000), and about a couple months just before the 5 year warranty expired, my engine started losing oil. I kept having to replinish the oil as the light kept coming on, about 1 litre every 2 fill ups. What was odd was that there was no oil patch in my garage, so the oil was obviously going somewhere.

So by the time I found that there was something wrong (I had to top up the oil about 2-3 times before I really determined something was wrong), the warranty period expired. When I took it in, I was told that the engine needed a complete rebuild. The explanation I received was that the oil was leaking INSIDE the engine. I also asked for the error code on their computer which is their diagnostic code so I could do further research on the problem.

I then went home and googled the code. What I found out was what really pissed me off. This was a common problem with VW Golfs from 2000-2003, where the piston seals were installed BACKWARDS, hence the leaking problem. In laymans terms, it was THEIR FUCKUP. So I called VW again and explained what my knowledge of the code was, and they gave me the whole "your 5 year warranty is up, too fucking bad". I was so fuckin pissed; I could handle if it was my fault or it was my normal wear and tear driving that caused this problem, but it was clearly their problem right from the start. And the way they don't disclose this information, they keep it hidden and will only disclose it when people bring in their Golfs that are having problems is what really irks me about VW. So basically, VW is "hoping" that your car will make it past the 5 year period, and then they're off the hook.

If I had the web knowledge that I have now, I would have setup my own VW sucks website and SEO'd the shit out of it, but I didn't have fuck all to work with. I sent a letter to the president of VW Canada explaining my situation, and all I got was a phone call back saying "too bad, so sad".

So basically I got rid of that piece of shit and will never touch VW or Audi again. Fuck VW.

Before I started dating this girl (4+ years ago) I had no previous experience with VWs and totally assumed they were well-engineered with little problems. After all, that's what the millions they and other companies (*cough* Apple *cough*) spend on advertising to lead consumers to believe.

Back then, I would have thought you just got a rare lemon. Not so anymore.

Anything that rolls out of VWs Mexico plants are trash. Jettas, Golfs, Bugs, etc. I think Passats, Touregs, and other higher-end models still come straight from Germany and that is the reason behind the quality discrepancy.

But their (lack of) consumer care and atrocious dealer service fees will keep me from ever becoming a customer. Even though I like to do *minor* and some major work myself, because I'm crazy like that, I still like to know that I don't have to drop $5k on a repair that would cost >$1k on anything else (save for maybe a Range Rover or Porsche).

And I can't help but make a direct link between the style of advertising Apple and VW do and the amount of VWs I see with the gay little Apple sticker on the back of so many VW windows.

VWs are pieces of shit, but Audis are different. Although I did just have a brake caliper get displaced and wear the inner-rear pads down to metal in my A4. That sucked, but it's been a solid car otherwise. One little issue with a couple of sensors needing to be fixed, but 60k miles with nothing other than minor shit is ok in my books.

I've always been incredibly lucky when I have had car problems in the past, tonight not as much of an exception - kinda.

Went out with a few friends to a bar tonight. Bar close comes I start heading down the road and I turned around to get some water from the nearest gas station (2 blocks away). Just as I pull up my car stops dead in its tracks. Weird, I'm not wasted nor do I think I hit the curb or anything. Get my water, try and back out and with in about 5 feet the car just stops in its tracks. WTF!

I get out of my car and my tire isn't exactly where it should be. My front driver side tire is forward tight against the wheel well. Oh fucking great.

Luckily the gas station attendant can push me forward back fully into my spot.

Hoping (well praying) it isn't my axle.

Luckily I met this chick tonight whom just happened to also be at the gas station too when it happens and can give me a ride home, and the gas station is cool enough to let me get it towed in the morning and save myself money on the inevitable tow.

Can I get lucky and have it not be something super major?
did you remember to change the oil?
