We're going to be making some changes with the rep points tonight. It's going to be a bit tougher to have points count. I purposely set it in the benginning to keep it easy, not realizing how many people would use it for bad over good. Also going to be inputting the changes so that it works with the new algorithm.
The algorithm itself will help us determine, automatically, who is active/worthy to visit the resource area and who isn't.
With the whole resource section, I am definitely at fault here for not giving the designer (Ben) and coders enough time to do their work. I was under the impression that it wouldn't be much work and it could be done in a month or two, but clearly, I was very wrong. So I'm setting the final launch date of ALL the sections to Jan 21, the first day of Affiliate Summit West. We should have all 8 channels up and live on that date. I can assure you, the hype is real. I've showed mockups of rough drafts to industry big wigs and friends, and no one has had a single negative thing to say about it, not to mention, the most common response has been "wow, this is going to be great". I can assure everyone, it's well worth the wait, and I'm much happier now that I know I don't have to charge for it.
The reason for not charging you guys is so that the advertisers take on the cost of it, but in doing so they get better leads and form better partnerships better for their business.
I hope to launch the Newswire channel very shortly. I'm also extremely pleased to announce the Editor In Chief -- Andrew Johnson. He's an admin here, and he constantly scours the internet for news, industry related too. Under him will be a team of staff writers and journalists. That's right, journalists. That's not another word for a blogger either, we already have a small team built up of people within the industry with a journalism approach to their writing, which means instead of just getting bias news and press releases, WF will now also report on news that's happening within our industry, mostly exclusive stuff too. I guess the easier route could have been to just have people write articles like everyplace else has, but I figured it's time for change in this industry, and someone needs to report the news, rather than just sum it up and rewrite it. So I can't wait to see how it all works out. But back to it, Andrew has a lot of work ahead of him as the editor, and I have full confidence in him running the entire channel.
If you have written articles before, and want to expand your horizons and maybe come on board as a jr staff writer or journalist, contact Andrew. He's the man in charge. Also, you'll be signing an NDA/Non-compete, so if that's something you don't feel like doing, better luck elsewhere. But if you do consider yourself a good writer, and want to be introduced to areas not ventured in before within the industry, contact him and get yourself going.
That's all I'm going to talk about now, even though I'm literally ITCHING to speak more about the other channels, but I'll save it as a surprise as they launch on their own time, and when they are perfected to my specifications.
PS - Ben is a great designer. No joke. After he's done with this project someone should hire him for some work, because the guy is top notch. One of the best designers I've ever worked with to date. If it weren't for this place, I would have never found him, and I'm glad I did.. even if he faints easily! :stonedsmilie:
