Buddy of mine is on life support right now - same stuff. Go to the doc man.

He was sick for a few weeks, went to the doctor, got on meds. Diagnosed with pneumonia.

Stayed sick even with the meds - till his lungs collapsed.

Now he is in a drug induced coma, full life support, and they don't think he is going to make it. He's 38, and leaving behind his 12 year old, and his GF is pregnant with twins (they were supposed to get married last week).

My kids teachers boy friend was in the same boat - pneumonia to the point of hospitalization (he is 27). I guess because our friends are dealing with it we are hearing all sorts of stories about other people with "breathing" and "lung" problems, but it seems like there are a lot of really ill young people with similar problems right now.

In other words - go to the damn doctor :) not only that, keep on things as if you've let it go this long, your body might not respond to the medicine.

I know how that is, our next door neighbor Tim died in februrary, he was in a drug induced coma for over 2 months til they could no longer resecetate him from the final crash of his system. Except his problem was more based on years of drinking.

Originally he had Seizures a couple times a year, then finally crashed in october, and they were able to medicate him and get him back on his feet, with the stipulation that he had to come off the booze. Well around january ish, he decided he needed his liquor to take the "shakes" out of his hand, which eventually lead to a relapse. He left behind a wife and two daughters (13 and 8).

Anywho, the replies leading up to your reply mentions that we got prescribed some antibiotics, which I'm hoping will do the trick, because the antibiotics are really screwing with my stomach (naseua, gas bubbles on both ends, the runs, etc)

Well, you could still code propped up on the john, yunno. :1bluewinky:

Eat plain yogurt for the stomach.

You are taking it on a full stomach right? That stuff will make you sick as a dog otherwise.

This certainly helps to keep the Flora in the digestive track up to speed.

Acidophiles (Active Acidophiles can be bought at vitamin and drug stores.) Acidophiles sometimes can work better and faster than the yogurt's bacterial cultures since they seem to survive the high acid level of the stomach prior to entering the intestines where they can support your natural Digestive Flora. Gut flora - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Effects of antibiotic use

Altering the numbers of gut bacteria, for example by taking broad-spectrum antibiotics, may affect the host's health and ability to digest food.[25]antibiotics by eating the meat of animals to which they were fed.[25] Antibiotics can cause antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) by irritating the bowel directly, changing the levels of gut flora, or allowing pathogenic bacteria to grow.[8] Another harmful effect of antibiotics is the increase in numbers of antibiotic-resistant bacteria found after their use, which, when they invade the host, cause illnesses that are difficult to treat with antibiotics.[

Gut flora composition also changes in severe illnesses, due not only to antibiotic use but also to such factors as ischemia of the gut, failure to eat, and immune compromise. Negative effects from this have led to interest in selective digestive tract decontamination (SDD), a treatment to kill only pathogenic bacteria and allow the reestablishment of healthy ones.

Pharmabiotics

Pharmabiotics is a generic term to encompass any form of therapeutic exploitation of the commensal flora, including the use of live probiotic bacteria, probiotic-derived biologically active metabolites, prebiotics, synbiotics or genetically modified commensal bacteria.[5] Since the lack of gut flora can have such harmful health effects, the use of probiotics has anti-inflammatory effects in the gut and may be useful for improving health. Prebiotics are dietary components that can help foster the growth of microorganisms in the gut, which may lead to better health.[24] There is evidence supporting a therapeutic role for probiotic strategies for treating mucosal inflammatory disorders such as IBD, atopy, infection, diarrhoea, cancer and arthritis.[5]

That's thing bout wikipedia, even with information such as that... they still managed to misspell diarrhea.

Besides not sure if I should take any stomach altering drugs anyways since I'm already on a 40mg per day prescription of prilosec.

I can understand your caution. I only sited the Wiki link because it was readily available.

I've known about and used Acidophiles for over 30 years when my system gets compromised.

There really should not be any interaction of the Acidophiles and your Prilosec. The Prilosec is just an acid pump inhibitor for the stomach. The purpose of the Acidophiles is to NOT get destroyed by the stomach acids so that it can go to work in the intestinal tract. So, the Prilosec should actually help the Acidophiles get to where it can help with minimal deterioration.

I myself eat a lot Sashimi and won't take any acid inhibitors since I "KNOW" that there are some nasty little bugs in some raw fish that I WANT my stomach acid to destroy.

Plain old cheap Baking Soda, about 1/2 a teaspoon in something like 4 oz. of water will give almost immediate heart burn relief without shutting down the acid pumps in your stomach. (It tastes a little fishy though.) Drinking baking soda and water will also help to put your body into an Alkaline state rather the harmful Acid state (Where inflammation begins.) This of course is an immediate alleviation of symptoms that only helps to neutralize the acid in your stomach and esophagus. If you have ulcers (Stomach or Esophagus.) the Prilosec will definitely give you prolonged acid reduction to keep the ulcers from being constantly aggravated. Maybe check with your doctor about using Prevacid instead as well. Prevacid Details - The People's Medicine Community I have several friends who switched from Prilosec to Prevacid who say that it works MUCH better for them.

The next time you see a doctor ask him/her about baking soda for heartburn relief as well as the Acidophiles for fighting diarrhea and maintaining proper digestive function.

Ive had this shit for about a week. I was just getting better then yesterday I had the worse headache ever for 12 hours. I tried tons of things that good weed, ibprophine, Tylenol. The only thing that worked was Excedrin. Took me 12 hours to figure that out!

It was so bad I like couldn't move around well or else my head would start painfully pounding. My eyes where absolutely killing me. Definitely the 12 hour migraine from HELL.

Today much better :)

Still got that :::cough::: :::cough::: tho...

ZPacks don't always knock out chronic bronchitus, if that's what it is... if you dont clear up within 5-7 days I assume your doc told you to go back right? Don't wait another month before you make that decision.

Bronchitus can be tough to fully knock out, take it seriously, best of luck to you and esp. your wife.
