So I get a phone call earlier today from Azoogle Ads telling me that they clicked one of my ads, and did an IP lookup to see if it matched any publisher or applications they had on file, and "It matched your IP but we noticed you weren't running the offer with us. We wanted to tell you we could beat the payout of your current network".

Clicked my ad fraudulently and admitted to it?
 


hmmm not sure what to think of this, personally i would be really pissed if a network called me up trying to get me to use them. that would put them on my "never use this network" list. slim chance it might not be them, but you never know.
 
I don't even know how they got my IP specifically, because doing a lookup would just resolve my hosting IP.
 
You have probably run traffic to them in the past from a site on the same server. Yes, this is creepy indeed...
 
Well I'd tell them sure- if you can beat the payout by $5 then I'll go with you, then split test it of course. It is pretty creepy that they did an IP lookup on your site and matched it to your application, but money is money...
 
That's crazy but I will definitely try their service and see how if it works. We all love to earn ,don't we?
 
so you had signed up with the network in the pastto run traffic and they called you offering more money?

what a bunch of dicks...
 
hahaha.... I love the aggressiveness of the affiliate manager. Think about it, from a pure monetary view - more sales in our network.. more cash for us, plus affiliate managers are commissioned.

Ethically - eh....... who am I to say whats right or wrong. Sounds like Azooge subed the offer and is trying to steal affiliates.
 
We dont click ads but yes we do research and contact them. Why does this freak anyone out? Networks aggressively recruit affiliates. From IP searching, to seeing what other domains you have listed, to whois spamming.

Personally if I see a nice lander, I will use the contact on their page. That's as far as I go. If people get pissed I apologize for bothering them but I always have a better deal prepared before contacting them. If they arent interested in a better deal then that's typically the type of publisher I dont want to work with anyways. None of my guys are performanced based so there is no reason to go beyond using the provided contact forms on a site/page.
 
you dont need to click on ads to see the URL behind them, just install the keywordspy toolbar for FF or others like it and it shows you the destination url right in the browser.

then you can just drill through every ad on the page without cost to anybody
