Uhm yeah it did have history. Jazz was brought about from early slaves who sang in the fields and then as they were freed and could accually learn classical music, they combine things such as a 12/4 beat of blues(again which came from african shout and response) with classical musical notes and ides from being in marching bands.

"...they combine..." - exactly. Of course it didn't just appear out of thin air, but it was created by combining things that existed before, just like everything else.

The history you're talking about can be found for any musical genre - trance was influenced by electronic & industrial music, which, in turn, have their roots in the classical world and also have their story, culture, etc.

What I'm getting at is the fact that jazz was once also new, strange, called junk and loathed by many.

So, in short, you're wrong : )
