How do you like the scene in Chicago? Are you from there originally?

just moved here 3 weeks ago from Florida... a lot of great pieces here! Only problem is that you can't by paint in the city (ugh) but I have a few online sources (of course with affiliate links.. hehe)

so as of right now... I have just been using paint markers and mops while I wait for my cans to get here

Good Fucking Riddance. :)

J/K.

Grew up in southwest Florida, last eight years in Chicago, west coast now. Everything is against the rules in Chicago (you have to be 18+ to buy a marker I believe); your only saving grace with the cops is that there is so much gang activity and whatnot to distract them. I loved that edge though. Here in Seattle everyone seems like either a doofus hippy or complete crackhead. (Including the police, bus drivers, etc.) I guess I'm not used to it yet... Anyways good luck in Chicago; it's the funnest city out there in my opinion.

I don't, I'm a photographer, but a close friend has been in the game a long time, he's also a tattoo artist. We colab'd on a piece for a tattoo convention last year, he painted on a girl and I photographed her, the final output was on stretched canvas, gallery wrapped (around edges). The semi-nsfw image can be seen here: Displaying art at the Lehigh Valley Skindustry Tattoo Convention Mike Panic - the black border and our names down the side are the pieces that were wrapped around.

He also did several many walls at a local indoor skate / bmx park, the photos can be seen here: Hellbound | Seyone | PennSkate Mike Panic - the first piece is floor to ceiling in a warehouse - what's amazing is he's in a wheelchair and did all of it himself. Got on a pallet and then raised on a forklift to do everything above 5'

Lastly, one of my photos of his artwork from the skate park is being used for a skateboard company as a production deck, mock-up can be seen here: Never Again Board Co | Seyone Mike Panic - I'm hoping to get a real sample soon.

I'm not. Always wanted to try it, just never did. I've taken a fair number of photos though. Here are a few from my trip to Barcelona for the 2005 Sonar music festival. I don't know if this happens in other cities, I've never really noticed it, but what is cool about Barcelona is that by day you hardly notice any graffiti at all. It's in the usual places, in alleys and on park walls and that sort of thing. However, by night the city becomes a riot of colour when the shops close and the roll down shutters come down. It's pretty cool.

Hit up the Bassment. If you're cool enough, the guys running the place will hook you up with cans at six bucks each. Otherwise you can go to the montana shop in Oak Park.

You in a crew yet?
