I want to preface this short note by saying its meant as encouragement to noobs and anyone thinking that they cant do this. Take want you want from it 
I suppose if I break it down I've been doing this for about a year and 6 six months and seriously for about 8 months.
Along the way I have had some great successes and great failures too. Even at nearly 1k posts here I consider myself a noob.
I've had a few 1k day profit days and lots of days in the mid to high $xxx days. I suppose I wanted to post this to both say thanks to people who helped me along the way and to offer the following tips to people who may be struggling to get a foot hold.
Here's my tips to anyone starting out -
- Read all the shit you can here for a period until you feel you could do a short 5 minute presentation on the subject you have chosen to focus on.
- Do it. Take your knowledge and apply it.
- Stick to one thing at a time and give it time to get enough data. One of my biggest stumbling blocks was having the balls to let something optimize over time and to prune campaignsn to profitabality.
- Talk to people. Trade ideas, trade services, knowledge is power.
- Test - prosper202 was like a light being switched on. Again - do it.
- Try new shit. Some of the ugliest lps and the weirdest kws and the least obvious traffic sources have worked and worked big. Its about being unique and doing it well. Think I picked that up from Jonathan Volk who's blog has been a true inspiration.
- Find one thing that works and hit it like a truck. It takes time to scale and tweak to teh moniez on one offer / vertical. Do not spread yourself too thin.
- Work your fucking ass off
That last point is key. I work hard in a day job and come home after 8hrs and do another 8hrs on the computer when I get home to build / tweak / test campaigns.
I have been doing 16hr days at least for around 4 months now. I dont mind admitting that I am shattered. I can balance this by seeing the results that are growing and growing on a daily basis.
Hopefully the ramble has been of some use to some of those starting out.
