if it's hardcore porn subscriptions you're looking at, the adult forums mentioned above might give you some ideas.

the promo methods can be pretty diff from regular lead gen though.

The ad industry in the adult world is dying a slow death due to the emergence of the new tube sites, which allow high quality videos to be viewed for free. All of the hardcore porn users know about these sites, and it was usually the hardcore users that would actually pay for the pornography. Until a consolidated system can be set up to block these sites, pornography ad-spend is going to keep going down.

This is why quite a few in the industry are pushing for the new .xxx extension for hardcore porn sites. Any pics or videos with sex acts in it on a site will have to be on a .xxx site that will have different registration guidelines.

Sites that are not .xxx but have pics or vids of sex acts would be fined, deactivated, or both.

The theory is that the free sites won't meet the qualifications for obtaining a .xxx designation and therefore will be forced out of the space and to remove their content from the web.

Whether it will work or not is unknown, only time will tell.
 
Yes, one day, when they figure out how to stop .torrents, other file sharing, and porn tubes, Adult will come back. When, and if, that ever happens, is another question.

Keep in mind that about 80% of Internet users don't even know what a browser is, let alone a Torrent, Usernet/Newsgroups, or Warez.

So if they succeed with the .xxx sites they have a good chance.

.xxx is a money grab/censorship attempt that will fail miserably. Who exactly is going to be the one patrolling the internet taking down porn sites without the .xxx extension?

This is exactly why it is basically on hold for now.

It will most likely be the same organizations that sensor broadcasting and rates movies.

I never said that I was either for or against it. I've been keeping tabs on it from time to time though.

I still feel the huge market is selling toys to couples- ideally as kinky as possible while being titled/packaged/marketed to appeal to just enough 'relationship building' to appeal to church going Americans.

Those who can nail this I'd imagine do well (liberator has intrigued me for instance on this front).

Moral issues aside, I wouldn't go near the porn industry. Not only is it a cut throat business, you'd be competing with experienced pros who have been at it for years. They would rip out your sphincter and make you eat it.

The porn industry is more popular, saturated, and competitive than the "work at home" and "weight loss" niches combined. If you don't know anything about that business, stay away. You don't have a prayer.

I agree it's a tough business but just think of all the keywords you can find in porn compared to weight loss (ex. gay black bbw midgets). now think organic SEO.
