It Looks Like An Electoral Bloodbath Tonight

I wish I could give papajohn rep 10 times in this thread. And guerilla. Even though he hasn't posted yet.

Wait wait wait. Bernanke was put in place by BUSH. The stimulus bill was a piece of shit but we wouldn't have gone through this recession in the first place if it wasn't for the Fed's bullshit.
That's is it. An attempt to increase homeownership in minorities by the Community Revitalization/Reinvestment Act, which called policies like requiring a job to get a mortgage "discriminatory", and the establishment of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to buy up and then resell bad mortgages AND the championing of such moronic companies as is to blame for the scale and explosiveness of this particular crisis.

Of course, responding to it by 10-fold increasing the money supply is pretty damn stupid. That money [probably] has to come back in funds or inflation sometime. When it comes back, we might feel it a little worse... that is, if the money injections even stimulate this time, and there isn't another factor involved.

* I say probably because there's a possibility that all we're managing to do by increasing the money supply is reallocate money that was contracting from reduced debt. Money supply in nominal terms != money supply in real terms. Seems almost absurd to think this is what the Fed has done though, given the scale of the injections.

Who really gives a fuck what gay people do? Are two gay guys getting married and having a good marriage for 30+ years going to suddenly decide to put it up your butt? No. It doesn't matter what people do. If anything, they'll have to go through the same shit straight people do with divorce. Hoffman is a RINO in sheep's clothing, and an endorsement from Sarah Palin just proved it.

Vote for libertarian Republicans, and Libertarians. Make a real difference.

That was easy

That's not what caused the crisis. It's not that simple.

Yeah, right!

"Twenty-four percent in Virginia said they'd cast their vote in part to show opposition to Obama, 18 percent to support him, while 56 percent said he was not a factor in their vote. In New Jersey it was a still closer split: Twenty percent said they cast their vote in part to express support for the president, an almost identical 19 percent to show opposition to him, while 60 percent said he wasn't a factor."

Yep. Rachael Maddow reported quoting Glenn Beck a saying they were manufacturing WMD's and serial-numbered coffins in the thousands and shipping them all to Montreal for storage.

Vermont & New Hampshire is on that suspect list as well.

Whoa now. Keep New Hampshire. The Free State project is a good group.

Geithner was appointed by Obama. Bernanke was appointed to another term by Obama. And the stimulus bill, which robbed us blind, was signed by Obama.

I hated Bush's fiscal policies, but he's gone. The voters couldn't send a message to him even if they wanted to.

3-for-3 in Virginia, 1-for-1 in New Jersey, and a possible win in the 23rd? Some of the point swings are just unreal. I mean, this is clearly about rejecting Obama's economic policies.

Well CNN's fuckery is at work. Read the caption, compare to the 'results':

Geithner is a joke. Paulsen was a joke. You can't seriously think Bush's economic policies are much better than Obama's. Bush bailed out the banks too.

I volunteered the whole day holding signs for candidates at polling stations in my small Connecticut town. Our down is typically run by liberal democrats, but the response was OVERWHELMINGLY republican today. Republicans now control nearly every committee, in fact for our town counsel, we had to forfeit one republican seat to a losing democrat because of state law. Even though it was just a local election, i think its a good representation of the peoples opinion of the way this nation is headed.

Bush's fiscal policies sucked vis a vis the Fed, but dude's gone. Gotta focus on the guy who's running the show now.

Of course we do, but we have to learn from the mistakes of the past and not let neocons come in and take over and fuck up in the same ways as previous. John "Wtf is economics" McCain and Sarah Palin are perfect examples.

People have had the 'what caused the financial crisis' debate a thousand times, I doubt it needs to happen again.

It's not exactly rocket science. All you need is fiscal responsibility. Be thrifty with the taxpayers money, keep taxes low, encourage businesses, stay for the most part out of the market. Don't propose these huge spending projects, especially when we're already in debt.

Not sure what your idea of 'neocons' is, since McCain and Palin are worlds apart, ideologically. That name is generally used as some type of derogatory epithet towards conservatives.

Conservative and libertarian economic policies are fairly similar, aside from abolishing the Fed, which I support but doesn't have any realistic chance of occurring. And whether you like to admit it or not, the Dems own the responsibility for the crisis a lot more than conservatives. It was social engineering implemented by libs that set the wheels in motion, and Bush actually tried to stop it several times.

EDIT: It doesn't look like Hoffman's gonna make it. 86% in and he's still down by 4 points.

John McCain personally admitted he has no clue when it comes to economics. Bush preached fiscal responsibility when he was campaigning, but what did he come in and do? Expanded the Dept. of Education and spent more on them, spent more on a needless war in Iraq, spent money bailing out the banks, and so on. Not quite "fiscal conservatism". John McCain wanted more energy programs to spend on, Palin wanted to spend on abstinence programs. How in God's name is any of this fiscally conservative?

Neoconservatism - big government moralists who preach fiscal conservatism and moral outrage on wedge issues, but spend on programs just as much as democrats. Also very pro-war.
