I have friends who are muslim who don't act any different than my friends who are christian or even atheist. There are rapes in every culture, race, religion, etc which accounts for the smallest portion of a group. There may be violence in a lot of majority muslim countries but if the mainstream media covered detroit, LA, Philly, and other places here in the states like they do them they would get crazy stories of violence as well. Quoting a tabloid isn't always the best thing to do when trying to sound legit.
 
Listen my little black pots: This forum has a very low regard of women in general. When you factor that in with the fact that most religious people are fairly moderate you would see that you are not much different than your Muslim counterparts.

And really...that's what keeps you up at night doesn't it? You always hate in others passionately what you hate most in yourselves.

I disagree with that as well. I would say that the type of people I detest the most is one's who make nothing of their lives. They feed from the bottom, show no initiative to do anything, and believe that everything should be handed out to them. I can't hate that in myself because that's not the way I am, I try and be the opposite of that.


All in all, this thread was probably an unnecessary shot at Muslims.
 
Muslims must be criticised until they learn to criticize themselves - as long as thats not possible the whole world suffers. Islam must be criticized until it goes through a Reformation like Christianity did, no real 'moderate', let alone tolerant, Islam is possible until that happens. As it stands its more a cult then a religion, because any criticism is of the belief system or its leaders is forbidden, leaving the cult is punishable by death and anyone outside the cult/Ummah is inferior, cannot be trusted and cannot be respected.

Yes. it's a Slippery Slope. With the end obviously being the most extreme but, true to Slippery Slopes, it all starts out simple enough.

That's exactly my point. You hate it so much (for whatever reason, maybe you grew up with it, maybe you saw it in others and hated, maybe poverty scares the crap out of you...there could be a million reasons you hate it) but you fear becoming that because deep down inside you think it's possible that you might be naturally inclined to be a lazy bottomfeeder? And that terrifies you. So you work really hard NOT to be that. I'm not saying it's always a bad thing, sometimes it drives us to be better. But we should still be able to acknowledge that hatred within ourselves becomes exacerbated in the reflection of others.
