I can understand if the guys wife stoned him because he broke a promise to her, but not why a bunch of selfrighteous "yahoos" did it.

I'm sure most Somalians are very receptive to property rights, blah blah blah. It's just kinda hard to pursue those ideas when Fanatic Ahmed's gang is stoning and murdering people everyday for stepping out of line.

What caused Japan's and Germany's "moral evolution" to happen so quickly? We didn't have to engage in "genocide" in order to change behavior there. Unless you consider American actions in WW2 to be genocide....

There are many "primitive" societies which present no threat to us. We aren't bombing tribes in the Amazon or Aborigines in the Outback.

You are making a Pollyannaish argument. Entities like the Janjaweed and the Taliban can not be "advanced" through reasoned conversation or explanations of the benefits of human rights.

And yes, taking force off the table is absolutely "coddling" these bad actors.

If the guy knew there was a chance this could happen, then why the fuck would he do it? I can see the logic behind men committing adultry in America, they won't get stoned to death.

Today, the thousands that take to the streets beg to differ. They are doing everything they can to get some country, any country involved to save them from being beaten, tortured, and killed for wanting to be free.

I don't think anyone should be the world police, BUT societies and countries in general should have a desire to want to intervene to stop shit like what was going on In Iraq or what is going on in Iran right now.

I agree that it isn't "our place" but I am glad that our sense of right and wrong is enough to draw us into conflicts when someone needs to step up and attempt to put an end to some of the bullshit that happens around the world.

For all it's flaws, I'll take the U.S. over Communist dictatorships like China and Russia, thank you very much.
