I was broke down on the side of the road with a friend of mine the other day. Her parents lived closest so they brought some tools and we were working on fixing the car when a conversation started I really had no answer to...

Her Mom: So how's business going what are you guys up to (me and my business partner).
Me: Going okay, he's running the office now and I'm working out of the house.
Her Mom: Gee that must be terrible.
Her Mom: You guys make me sick.
Her Mom: When are you going to buy her a new car she needs one (referring to my friend and the car thats broken down)?
Me: hah With what?
Her Dad: Why don't you kids go out and get a REAL job?
Me: Because real jobs are for people who are too lazy and don't have the balls to work for themselves.
*awkward silence*
*back to fixing the car*

How do you explain to someone that they have no clue how fuckin hard it is to start a business and survive without it turning into going off on them in a 20 minute heated rant? I'm sympathetic to the whole grass is always greener mindset but it bothers me to no end when all the same people who tell you to give up and quit putting yourself through pointless pain and discourage you by reminding you could be getting nice regular steady paychecks in the years you started your business then suddenly tell you how "lucky you are" and how you're just a leech on society once it pays off and then have the audacity to even joke that you owe the 'regular folks' something because you have much more.

its just uhhhg if there was a super angry face i'd use it ten times
:angryfire::angryfire::angryfire::angryfire::angryfire::angryfire::angryfire::angryfire::angryfire::angryfire:
ap there it is!

thoughts on how you deal with these ppl or do you just let it go?

I didn't mean to portray that they were angry. They weren't angry. It was more of an insulting tone with me. Ya know one of those situations where someone asks you a question only so they can set themselves up to tell you what they really think of it because you would never normally ask for their opinion.

I about murdered my girlfriend today after I said I needed a few hours alone to set up some servers and help answer some support tickets...

Her reply, "Oh, you've got it sooo hard, you have to sit in front of a computer and do nothing all day. We would have a lot more free time if you got a real job."

Bitch is lucky to be alive.

Analyze this as deep as possible because it's honestly the only solution;

Acquire assets that shut people up.

Man I thought it was just me... this kind of stuff pisses me off so much. On the one hand she envies me because I love what I do and do it all the time, on the other hand I work too hard.

Luckily it's something I've never compromised on, and after a year she get's the picture, if I'm working there's nothing she can do about it.

^^^ This.

Sad but true. This is how your "profession", no matter what, is ultimately judged by Suzy's mom and dad.

and you let her say this without giving out pimp justice?

Don't feel pregnant, you certainly are not alone in this plight.

This has always been a problem for people starting their own businesses. The guys I know including myself have gotten grief from even their wives while getting something started.

You can thank government and schools for training the Sheeples to leave their homes each day and REPORT to some kind of institution for learning or to get money in return for their time of labors.

People who have less will also be jealous of those who have more.

One of my favorite things I read some years back was an interview with a guy who finally made it. He said, "You know, they call me on Overnight Success and say that I must be pretty lucky because they just now heard of me and my Business. It took me twenty years to get my business to this point. They weren't there during those twenty years of sacrifice and hardship I had to go through to get here."

It is even tougher for those of us who are making go of it on the Internet. Remember that Google showed us that the majority of people don't even know what a browser is even though they are online and use computers everyday. No way can we expect them to understand ALL that we must learn and do to make money online.

The best thing is to just let them spew their ignorance. You most likely will not be able to either educate them nor change their view of someone who does not leave the house to make someone else the Loion's share of the money like they themselves have done most of thier lives. It's tough for people to change or to understand new things.

I know Subigo's frustration, in my first marriage my wife gave me shit because I was in outside sales and only actually went out selling 3 days a week. (This was back in the late 1980's and I was in my mid 20's.) The rest of the time I was on the golf course with prospective clients, which she did not consider part of my job. (Oh, and I was also doing a 7 day a week paper route so that I did not need to worry about a draw vs. my commisions. That money went straight to the kid's college fund.) I made over 60 grand a year and she was working a 9 to 5 making only 25 grand. I told her to quit her job and stay home with the kids. She told me that she could not respect a man who did not go to work every day. WTF!!

So, like a damn idiot I quit sales and went to work with her brothers at a prototype machine shop just to apease her. Well then she was bitching because we no longer had the disposable income she had grown accustomed to. Then she decided to try to have go at her own business under "MY" company's name and ended up getting "MY" company sued because she totally fucked up some guys business with her inept shit!! I lost my business!! Needless to say, the marriage did not last.

I decided after that to just follow my own instincts and TO HELL WITH anyone who does not approve or understand.

I really enjoy being here at WF because everyone here understands the struggles and for the most part we help sustain each other in our online endeavors through posts like this one to let us know that we are not alone. That others are going through the same things and that it will be OK.

Deliguy, just keep doing your thing to the best of your abilities and be like Yoda, "My own council shall I seek."

Peace Out!!

I am living through a nearly identical experience right now and my 2010 resolution is to completely remove this kind of people from my life.

As far as "thoughts on how you deal with these ppl or do you just let it go?", I could not care less what "these ppl" think. The sun shines, the rain falls, the haters hate, the idiots bumble and the 9-5-ers cannot understand that not everyone is like them. Big deal. Nothing to see here, back to business!
