So my brother is really good with anything regarding home remodeling / kitchen / bath / outdoor patio / etc.. but he does't do it frequently because he has never thought of making a business out of it or finding clients..

I'm wondering what the best route would be to generate leads from the SE's - I'd have no problem setting up a site / showcase to collect those leads, but in terms of generating that traffic...

I'm thinking the best bet would be to use PPC geo-targeting... any other ideas?

Getting ranked is not hard for a local niche business in a small city, esp if you are adept at link-building and use all the tools at your disposal <cough> Google Local Business Center <cough>.

If you are going the PPC route- in my experience you get a much higher conversion/ CTR if you spend money not on 'plumbers warren, oh' but on commonly-typed in problems. E.g. Bid on 'fix flooded toilet' in your geo-specific region and use dki in your ad copy and lander.

Facebook RULES for local stuff

Its true man, I buddy of mine has this music band that plays at wedding's, anniversarys, etc. They usually get around 10 leads per day, and they are all hot buyers. He is booked pretty much all 2010 already. (not all facebook duh)

On your facebook campaigns, target engaged or married people.

But yeah I think you should just go with facebook and organic search. Its pretty easy to get ranked with local searches.

Weather.com + advertising on local newspaper sites is working good for my friend's home theater company.

Facebook RULES for local stuff

I am planning on trying Facebook for my local painting company. Will there be an issue with getting impressions if you target a market so small such as just one town of people over 30 ?

sorry if this is a dumb question. i am literally JUST starting off with this stuff.

Thanks!
