Why I recommend a Master Mind group

Sharksfan is onto something here - if they are well run, they are an awesome resource. I get pretty much all my work done through focussed masterninds. It's about 5x as fast as trying to go it alone. The combination of accountability and having someone else to see round your blind spots is great.

Victory has a point though - for it to work, you have to be with people who can challenge you, otherwise it's just you teaching someone else how to do shit the whole time.

I was involved with one of these at the corporate level, large companies who would get together quarterly around the US and talk about I/T challenges. It's not uncommon and the guy who organized it was charging like $20k/yr per company to join if I recall. The best part of was networking with these people because typically your dealing with director and vp level positions. I know in my city their is a twitter group that meets all the time to talk about social media.. Join some of the local techy groups on LinkedIn and you'll find alot of noobs out there who need serious help.

MM groups sound corny and unnatural. You also have to be careful when you don't know people too well.

I do my best business collaboration over a giant burger, 5 or 6 beers, and 18 and Life (or some Bob Seger) playing loud on the jukebox... with the occasional break to hit on women that come up to the bar.
