Steam is coming to OS X

PC users getting so defensive, it's weird. No one is forcing you to use a Mac, you're just expressing your primordial "I hate da outsiders! They not like me!" cavemen instincts over a fucking computer. Get over it. It's a fucking computer. It's like me getting offended at my mechanic telling me my car is really old and needs repairs.

pretty much. On top of that, this is the same people who want to be ballers driving $100,000+ cars. By the logic in this thread, a $4000 used Kia is just as good

but you're comparing two completely different situations.

theres an obvious performance difference in say - a Maserati GranTurismo S and vs a Kia Sportage.

not much of a difference in raw performance if you were comparing these two systems besides the fact that you just pay more.

Ok then. Nissan 370Z vs $100,000+ car of same performance. You can easily get the same performance of say, a Maserati, for less than half the price. Sometimes better performance.

Nobody is saying a PC is the equivalent of a Used Kia. Basically we are saying, why buy a $60,000 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, when you can buy a $35,000 Subaru STI that is just as nice and fast.

Damn - I guess I should have read a few more posts down.

Yes, but you don't have to read a damn manual on how to drive a Maserati.

I've never had to read a manual to figure out Mac OS X

Also the price comparison chart, big inaccuracies. That's on a BTO mac pro, which any BTO PC is going to cost more direct from the manufacturer as well. You can't compare building your own on that aspect. Plus, the Mac Pro tower is upgradable. The Mac Pro also uses fully buffered ECC RAM, so there's a major cost difference that the PC doesn't have right there.

Are you kidding me? You must be looking at Apple's mark ups and not the street value. You can get 8gb's of fully buffered ECC RAM for $250. My 4gb's of ram I bought 4 years ago cost double that, and is probably 50% cheaper than what Apple would sell it for.

It doesn't matter if the tower is upgradeable or not, basically, all it is, is a waste of money... and with the worst operating system in the world... IMO.

You really have to bow down to Apple though, they developed such a base of fanboissssss that they will spend and buy anything just because it came from Apple.

BRB, going to play on wi-fi at starbucks with my macbook.

I'm running OS X on my HP netbook right now...I love it. There's really no reason to buy Mac hardware anymore, OS X runs perfectly on most PCs.
I actually prefer OS X apps for work- TextWrangler is the best text editor I've used on any platform.

Oh joy, another Mac debate. I use both for the record and if people learned to use a Mac first they'd find PCs, all arse about tit, not the other way around.

Apple is intuitive and works. PCs require more software than you can shake a stick at to accomplish even the most basic of tasks and end up bloated and slow.

Are you like the guy that goes around telling BMW owners that they should have bought a Toyota because it's the same thing but cheaper?

I have to disagree with this, Notepad ++ is sooooo good and i find textwrangler really crap in comparison, almost unbearably so in fact. A decent text editor is my main gripe with my Mac.

Ever heard of xPad? That's what I use, and it works magnificently for anything from copypasta to text editing to coding to anything textwrangler can do.

I would never suggest anything else to anyone.

And somehow this Steam for OSX has turned into another Mac fanboi vs PC fanboi thread. Leaving now.

No i hadn't. I'll check it out, because i don't like the idea of paying for BB Edit which is where i'm going at the moment. :)

And yeah, fanboism is ghey. I be going now too.

I own a windows7 laptop, desktop and a brand new mac book.

and srsly: If u wanna make monies, use Windows. If you want something for on the go, take the macbook. unless ur a graphic slave or webdesigner, mac is worth shit

troof. I own mac though >_> for gfx and web :sadcrying4: . I miss the gaming world :/

Half Life 2 is so overrated. You're a "scientist" and the only thing remotely close to scientific that you do is push a cart into a laser beam. Not to mention the random load screens, and terrible first person driving. Oh, and putting in equally terrible physics puzzles just to show off your engine. Yeahhhhhh.

Episode 3 is going to even worse. Physics puzzles with the portal gun.

I can't even tell if this is serious.

Eh? I never pay for RAM upgrades for Apple, or any component upgrades. Newegg.
