Gotta give some props to Detroit. Here's some creative out of the box thinking, move people closer together and destroy the run down stuff.

Detroit wants to save itself by shrinking - Yahoo! News

DETROIT – Detroit, the very symbol of American industrial might for most of the 20th century, is drawing up a radical renewal plan that calls for turning large swaths of this now-blighted, rusted-out city back into the fields and farmland that existed before the automobile.

Operating on a scale never before attempted in this country, the city would demolish houses in some of the most desolate sections of Detroit and move residents into stronger neighborhoods. Roughly a quarter of the 139-square-mile city could go from urban to semi-rural. ...

Hell, it's just crazy enough to work.

Sounds like a plan. I get sick and tired seeing businesses just sit vacant for many many years, it makes the place look like garbage.

We have a business man running the city instead of a pro-union, race baiter. It's awesome. I don't know if he was responsible for this, but this is a great idea. I hope they go through with this plan--it could really lessen the crime problems.

But if they do this there is also going to be massive gang wars. Jus' sayin.

hey i bet that if they populated the whole area with soccer players, all problems would be solved.

rage9, your turn.

Detroit should:

1) Buy some military weaponry
2) Advertise the ability to rent said military weaponry to destroy portions of their city that will be demolished anyway
3) Profit!

That sir, would be an act of terrorism.

The US military would be obligated to launch a first strike tactical nuke to finally destroy Detroit to keep the fagotry from spreading. Although I can hardly see a downside to any of this:

  • The Lion's are destroyed, for their own good.
  • Detroit is leveled, which is already the plan and is done on the cheap now.
  • A bunch of soccer players are eradicated, for the good of the world.

Although I agree that anything involving the eradication of soccer players is ok by me, don't dare count the Lions out. We finally turned the corner this year. Last year the Cardinals made it to the Super Bowl, this year the Saints won it, and next year the Lions are gonna own it.

2 wins against shitty teams is not turning the corner.

The only way the Lions could get into the post season within the next few years, realistically, is to sneak in via a wild card spot. It sure as hell isn't going to be this next season. The Packers are going to own the division for the next few years, although this year is a toss up if the Vikings get Favre back.

If the Lions manage to go .500 this next season it was a hell of a successful year. That also hinges so much on Stafford, who has quite a ways to go to being a good quarterback. I'm not going to knock him though because he's so fresh and young and likely you won't know what you have for another 2-3 seasons because he came into such a shitty situation with no mentor.

Yes, I see 8-8 being very possible this year, and playoffs in 2-3 years. You haven't been keeping up with their roster moves lately, but they've positioned themselves well under this new regime. The stench of Matt Millen is almost completely gone.
