looks good. the only thing I'm upset about is Hanks spewing garbage about how the Pacific theater was a "race based" war. Wut?

I've watched everything I can find on the upcoming series, where did he say that?

Anyway, the first episode was great. Hooked.

Yes, the Rape of Nanking and several other war crimes committed by the Japanese weren't racist at all.

Watched the first part yesterday and I liked it so far. REALLY hoping it will be as awesome as Band of Brothers.

2nd to last episode is on tonight.. who else has watched it so far? Every bit as good as band of brothers.

I've watched them all. I agree that it's an accurate depiction, well made, and a must watch, but I wouldn't want to watch it again. Band of Brothers I could, and do watch over and over.

My Grandpa was in the Pacific in WWII so this series was of particular interest to me, but it's just not one of those things that I'd want to watch again. Not really a knock on it, but it's just damn depressing.

Friend's grandfather was at Peleliu with the 5th Marines and got his eye shot out. One of his buddies published his memoirs about Peleliu and Okinawa. Sounds like it was the most horrible of wars you can imagine, right up there with the Russians and Germans going at each other in the frozen hell of the East. Fuck, I'm just glad we'll never see a war like that again... I hope.

FUCK TOM HANKS...FUCK TOM HANKS....FUCK TOM HANKS - Anti American Piece of SHIT! Disgusts me that this piece of trash plays the roles of TRUE AMERICAN HEROES, yet he despises America.

FUCK YOU TOM HANKS....

Phffft, phhffffft... (cough, cough)... 'ere!

I agree that this is way more depressing than Band of Brothers and not quite as good, but still a quality series. The 8th episode, the story of John Basilone, was especially sad. I hadn't read his story before, but you just had to know that when he reenlisted he was going to die. What a fucking hero though. Read as much as I could about the man after that episode.

Who'd they have play his wife? Holy crap she was hot.

Last episode was tonight, and while there wasn't any fighting, it was one of the best episodes.

Awesome series and was everything I'd hope it'd be. It'd be great if hanks/Spielberg got together again and did one on vietnam, though I'm doubting that'd ever happen.

Very good show, epic. Ending episode was the best though, but didn't want it to end.
