After Tonight's LOST (Spoiler Alert)

"The Island" is not Hell/Purgatory. The writers are doing their own thing. Perhaps we'll never find out what the island is so they can end the story in a fairy-tale like style; Happy ending to the current situation but some events still linger on; the duel between good and bad, a magical place where miracles happen etc.

A few of parallels that I spotted between the storyline and christian teachings/stories:

1. The Book of Revelations states that Satan is banished somewhere on Earth.
2. According to "Historia Compostellana", Jacob (James the Greater, Son of Zebedee) - after being beheaded, his body was taken by angels, by boat, to an island in NW Spain where a massive rock closed around his relics. (reference to the statue Jacob lives in)
3. Richard symbolizes Jesus, the link between God and people. He was tempted (wanted to accept black smoke's offer) but didn't fall into Satan's clutches.

a) weed

b) You don't have to think "deeply" to come to those conclusions, they're extremely obvious (at this point in the show).

c) You've never tried to guess what's going to happen in a movie or TV show? You must be working on something thuper duper if you're saving all that brain power.

weed + lost = win

p.s. they had better explain the whole damn thing before it's over or I'm gona be pissed.

Whether it's true or not I've heard that the writers have had the exact idea of what everything is and what it means the entire time they wrote the series.

This is different than a lot of series are written, I think. I think a lot of series these days are writers writing themselves into a corner each episode then having "fun" writing their way out of it. The lost writers may have done some of this but supposedly the main "secret" meaning and mystery of the island and the people on it has always been known and the same from day 1.

Is anyone else disappointed with the way LOST is going?(I kinda skimmed through the thread as I don't like spoilers) It kinda reminds me of when you're watching a really great movie and all of the sudden the last 20 minutes are on speed as if the producers suddenly realized their overbudget and need to wrap this up and throw together a quick hack of crappy ending. That's what this feels like. It's like CBS said you've only got 8 episodes left, WRAP THIS BITCH UP.

I agree with you. I've been watching since Season 1. I've watched every episode. I feel like what they are doing this season should have been a 2 season thing. It feels forced and rushed. It's good, but the pace is just way off from the rest of the series.

The thing that made me stop watching is every single episode a big strange mystery was revealed (and none of the old ones explained), after awhile the mysteries just lost their excitement and credit because there were so many. I was kind of like 'wow a polar bear'.. (I know polar bear was from S1 but I can't think of any examples).

I just got done watching this week's episode. Most interesting one in a long time I thought. Been waiting several seasons to see an episode about Richard, as he's always just been this mystery man, although I suspected all along that he came to the island on that boat.

I really love the series and I do hope/think they have a plan to wrap things up and explain most (if not all) unsolved clues towards the end.
