Completely off topic but true story

I was in 5th grade I was probably the most respected kid intellectually (not socially because I was fat but intellectually for sure. I'd skipped a grade and parents taught me math at home). Anyway, we had a table change and every table had a project we had to do as a group. One person at the table was given the role leader. My table of people who I honestly thought understoof that this kid was a total moron, voted in the dumbest kid in the class as leader.

I never figured out why they did it. This kid never spoke in class and when he did speak you couldn't understand what he was saying. He just had bad grammar/was slow probably because his parents obviously did not take an active participation in his schooling. I think they just did it because they felt sorry for him. I don't think the kid felt sorry for himself. Anyway this was like the biggest mind=blown moment of all of school.

Anyway, yah I do think the march to socialism is bullshit. Huge entitlement programs. On the other hand, people who've never worked a job that pays more then $15/hour... do we as a society just come to terms with the fact that a cancer or any debilitating disease is a death sentence and move on?
 
As a teacher I can tell you it's definitely a slippery slope, but I personally haven't found things to be quite as dramatic as the article foretells. I'm also always wary of someone professing to know how another person thinks aka "Reliance on the government was Obama's real goal all along"

not really. Repubs take congress in '10. They refuss to fund (with majority in congress) anything to do with the healthcare bill including the billions it is going to take for the IRS to enforce. BO crys and stews in lame duck hell for 2 more years.

BO is thrown out of office in shame in '12 and repub Pres., Congress and probably senate go about dismantling this POS.

The democrats have turned the middle class against them. They fucked up. No matter how much of a socialist/Maoist,communist,marxist you are you still have to listen to the will of the people or you will be thrown out of office.

Actually this may have been a boon for the conservative movement. BO and his merry band of communist pushed to hard, to fast and to far to the left. It is causing a backlash against the Democratic party. BO fucked up and betrayed the middle of the road Democrat. Their is no such thing as a traditional democrat anymore.

I really don't see how ANYONE who has had ANY level of SUCCESS, can be for any of this shit that is going on.
 
As a person who lives in a family of teachers and cops the one thing i've learned is to never take their political views seriously.

Teachers and cops are notoriously selfserving when it comes to their political views. Politicians have learned all they have to do is say "will provide the state extra income that they might spend on STUFF LIKE education and law enforcement.....blah blah" and they'll have a whole team of influential and organized promoters for the bill that'll do everything and anything to get it passed including holding rallies and going door to door.

You can put up a bill that kills all babies as soon as their born and sells their stem cells and as long as that money is hinted to going to education or law enforcement they'll jump all over it and make regular hard working citizens feel like shit for not supporting them.

So while I have no opinions on the healthcare bill fuck the teachers opinions. They already get healthcare through the state and they see no personal interest in the health benefiting them so of course they're against it. That much is predictable

Agreed. The same rationale also explains why the unions are hanging all over Obamas nut sack and why Obama can't drop to his knees fast enough for Andy Stern.

At least in my life time, "groups" have never thrown their support behind the "better" ideas, just the ones that selectively benefited them the most.
