Boston, MA
Possibly starting a new position up in Waltham, but I want to live in the city. Just got the offer today and they want me to start in 2 weeks so I got a lot of decisions to make and planning to do.

What would be a good part of boston to live in if I'd be commuting to Waltham everyday for work? I was thinking around cambridge would be good considering I can still get into the city on the T very easily but I'd also be on the outside of the city and closer to work so the commute wouldnt be so bad.

cambridge could be good.....its on the other side of the water though. i think brookline would be good also but thats a little bit outside of the city. i'd say the back bay...there's an i-90 on ramp there near copley square...that'll take you right to waltham. dont know what your budget is like. getting a good place there and a parking spot will cost you a pretty penny. i live in hawaii now but i lived in boston for quite some time before moving back home.

I think you're right about Back Bay being an option. Just mapped out the route and if I'm close enough to 90 it will be an easy 10 mile all express way/reverse commute drive. Shouldn't take more than 20-25 mins according to google maps. I'll start taking a look at places there. Thanks for the tip!

Back Bay is really an amazing place to live, highly recommend it. Easy access to Cambridge and walking distance to about all of Boston. The best restaurants, proximity to Fenway, awesome bars. Not to mention being almost right on the river for exercise, etc. First day the good weather comes you can barely walk on the sidewalk there are so many runners out. Can definitely answer any more specific questions if you have them.

Got any tips on finding a good deal on a place to buy? Looking for a 2 bedroom place.

yeah cambridge is a good spot. I don't know if you've ever been to boston but cambridge basically is boston, so you'd basically be in the city.
