This is pretty crazy shit. Lol @ 1:18 where the family is just slowly walking away. I didn't even think the mafia still gets down like that today.

This shocking CCTV footage shows a violent mafia gang storming a bowling alley where they thought a mobster's wife was hiding out.

Terrified families looked on as six AK47-wielding fiends burst into the complex near Naples, Italy.

The masked raiders, carrying handguns as well as the machine guns, shoved staff to the floor.

The attack saw slot machines shot at, windows smashed and even the bowling alley torched with petrol.

Police said the raid was sparked after the owner of the alley was accused of hiding the 34-year-old wife of mob boss Giuseppe Palumbo.

She is thought to be on the run after deciding to leave him.

The gangsters from the Cammora — Italian Mafia — showered the alley with bullets, destroying everything in their path.

The attackers fled, shooting a man, who had been watching the terrifying scenes unfold from his car outside the alley, in the thigh.

The raid was part of an orgy of violence unleashed in the southern Italian city on March 18 which saw a casino also hit just 18 minutes later.

Yesterday Italian paramilitary police, the Carabinieri, stormed the house of the gang suspected of carrying out the raids.

As they searched the house they discovered posters of the Al Pacino film 'Scarface', a Lamborghini car and expensive motorbikes, police said.

Officers even claimed to have discovered a roll of toilet paper designed to replicate a wad of 50 Euro bank notes.

A police spokesman said the motive for the attacks was a personal dispute between mob boss Palumbo, his wife and her uncle Don Gennaro after she and Palumbo separated.

He said: "The owner of the alley, her uncle, was believed to have been hiding Palumbo's wife who is on the run.

"When the gang struck at the bowling alley they are believed to have said 'Tell Don Gennaro that this is what we are capable of' as a reference to the owner to return Palumbo's wife."

The mob in Italy is a lot worse than what remains in the states.

Watch the movie Gomorrah (it's on Netflix instant demand) for what is supposed to be a very accurate portrayal of the Comorrah (slightly different than the Sicilian mobs, flatter hierarchy) the author of the book and screenplay went into permanent police protection to avoid being killed. Watching that movie will wipe out any romanticized notions you might have of the mob from movies like The Godfather, Goodfellas, or The Sopranos. Very good movie but depressing as hell.

Bella italia... I have a few friends in the south, close to Sicily, who remind me often enough that you don't talk, whisper, let alone joke about the mafia. I never quite understood that, but they have a genuine fear deep inside that never lets go of them. It's insane.

I'm thinking his comment about AK47s being illegal may have been a bit of fishing?! Seems it went over some people's heads. :) Like shooting isn't illegal...
