LoL got the greatest graphics of ALL TIME. OF ALL TIME!
I love the grahpics. All games should look like that. You should give it a try. It is made by the same guys who made DotA.
Uh, every Blizzard game has been on OS X so far. I remember playing Warcraft 2 on w/e it was back in the day. It was so legit. And the registry needs to go.
HoN is a dota-clone by S2 Games.
Dota is a custom map/mod for Warcraft 3 that has been around for awhile and has gotten fairly popular, but it was being held back by the WC3 engine.
Basically what you do is choose a character from over 40 as well as your other 4 team mates and proceed to duke it out on a map. The map looks like this:
There are three lanes, with towers in each lane, and the map is divided into half by the river. Basically, you're trying to destroy each others base, by downing the towers and then eventually the base. The colored lines you see in the lanes are creeps which you can kill for gold to buy items. You can also kill the other champions on the other teams for gold as well.
You gain experience and gold to buy items and make your skills stronger.
So what S2 Games decided to do is take all the heroes and items, rename them and make them look a little bit different and call it Heroes of Newerth.
They also added in some features like voice chat and matchmaking (which blows compared to LoL, too slow), and a few other things that makes the game slightly better.
LoL (Leauge of Legends) is a similar game to HoN/Dota, but it's slightly different in that it's not an exact clone of dota. The map is smaller, you can't deny (kill) your own creeps and towers, it's more of a team based game, and downing towers is actually important.
And two of the people who make LoL were directly involved with dota at some point so they have a pretty good idea of what they're doing. The other guy who was heavily involved with dota (icefrog) is now working for Valve, presumably making some sort of dota-like game.
